1 CALEXICO/MEXICALI CBP/SAT WORKING GROUP CALEXICO- JANUARY 29, English 1) Update about Centers of Excellence and Expertise by James Snyder. The purpose of these Centers is to centralize all Importer processes and receive support from one single group or Experts. It is expected that the number of volunteering companies increases, please find attached brochure with additional information on these centers. 2) Cargo Hours of Operations for Holidays and Saturdays. A Proposal from CBP for a change in the Holiday and Saturday Schedule has been sent out to the Trade Community. The tentative effective date is on the February 16, 2015, President s Holiday. CBP invites you to share your input and comments on this. Please find proposal attached. 3) SR-7 Construction Update. Construction will continue approximately until September Pavement is being replaced for a more resistant material that will eventually represent a saving in the constant maintenance and repairs that were being needed with the previous asphalt material. 4) Update on ACE. ACE transmissions will be mandatory starting May 1 st, ) Pedestrian Kiosks and LCD signage (Calexico East POE). Starting February CBP will be working on installing LCD signs to accelerate the pedestrian crossing inspection procedure, similar to the system installed in the West POE. 6) New Port of Entry Project. The budget for the first stage of a New Port of Entry in Calexico has been approved. Construction will begin in Spring 2015 and this first stage is expected to last from 2 to 3 years. El propósito es centralizar los procesos de los Importadores en un solo centro, de este modo solo se dirigirán a un solo grupo de Expertos para apoyo. Se espera que incremente el número de Empresas voluntarias de este programa, para mayor información favor de consultar folleto adjunto. 2) Horas de operación del area de Carga en Días Festivos y Sábado. CBP ha enviado una propuesta a toda la Comunidad de Comercio Exterior sobre los horarios en el Área de Carga en Días Festivos y Sábados. Tentativamente se espera que entre en vigor este nuevo horario a partir del próximo día festivo estadounidense Presidents Day el 16 de Febrero del CBP invita a la comunidad a enviar su retroalimentación sobre esta propuesta, para mayor información favor de consultar la propuesta oficial adjunta. 3) Actualización sobre la construcción en la carretera SR-7. La construcción continuará hasta aproximadamente el mes de Septiembre del La razón de esta reparación es sustituir en material de asfalto por uno más resistente, de esta forma se reducirán los costos de mantenimiento que implicaba el material anterior. 4) Actualización sobre ACE. Para el 1ro. De Mayo del 2015 será mandatorio el uso de ACE para toda importación y exportación, se les invita a comunicarse con su proveedor actual para informarse de la migración a este sistema. 5) Kiosko Peatonal con registro LCD (Puerto Este de Calexico). Comenzando Febrero, CBP iniciará con la instalación de pantallas de señalamiento LCD para acelerar el proceso de revisión en el área Peatonal de Garita Este, similar al sistema que utilizan en el Garita Centro. 6) Proyecto Garita Nueva en Calexico. El presupuesto para la primera fase de construcción de una garita nueva ha sido aprobado. La construcción se espera inicie a principios de la Primavera 2015, teniendo una duración de 2 a 3 años.
