Because of your enthusiasm and knowledge the Series is considered a success and many look forward to your 2015 presentations. Annual Pro-Life Baby Shower 2015 At all Masses on January 24 th & 25 th, we will have our annual Baby Shower to support our local Pregnancy Resource Center and Medical Clinic, A Woman s Friend. They provide counseling and assistance for women, as well as layettes and items for their babies. Please bring a baby gift or donation and place it in the crib in the vestibule. Items most needed are clothing: newborn size: gowns, 3/6 mo & 6/9 mo, onesies & sleepers, 3/6 month outfits (boy & girl) sox, booties & bibs. Items such as: lotion, shampoo, powder, bottles, pacifiers, teething toys, formula, towels & washcloths. The Center recently received a generous supply of diapers and blankets so they are not needed at this time. Please know that any monetary gift will be used throughout the year to purchase layette items as needed. Knights of Columbus Crab/Steak Feed Saturday January 31st the Knights will have the crab/steak feed in the Parish Hall, doors open at 6:00pm. The dinner includes: Shrimp, salad, pasta, crab or steak or a crab/steak combo, and dessert. Full bar and raffle prices. Proceeds provide support for seminarians, college scholarships, RCIA program, St. Vincent de Paul, SI School and Parish projects, Special Olympics, and much more. Most of you are familiar with the Regional Emergency Shelter Team, or the more commonly called REST. The REST program provides emergency winter overnight shelter and food for homeless families and single women. REST, representatives at St. Isidore are proud to announce that once again for the 5th year-our parish will participate in this program. Our parish is scheduled for the weeks of January 17th-23rd and February 21st-27th. During those two weeks we are asked to provide shelter(we offer our gymnasium) and a hearty, warm evening meal for our guests and the REST volunteers. This is wonderful opportunity for parish ministries, families and individuals to show the love of Jesus Christ and be His hands here on earth. REST is looking for people to provide meals, serve, and set up tables & chairs. Gather your friends, family, Bible study groups, prayers groups, Bunco groups and volunteer. Altar Servers There will be mandatory Altar Server training for All current Altar servers and those wishing to serve on the Altar. This training will be on January 31st at 10:00am- 12:00 pm in the Church. There are changes that we will go over for which you will be need to know, in order to assist the Priest in the celebration of the Holy Mass. A Big Thank you! To the Garden Gate florist, with who s generosity providing our parish with such beautiful poinsettias was able to decorate for the Advent and Christmas seasons so beautifully. They also donated to our parish the beautiful Nativity scene that is now placed in the foyer of the Parish hall. 2

3 St. Isidore School This Wednesday January 14th the 5th grade is doing a Shady Creek Fundraise. For any family that eats at Marcello's Italian Restaurant between the hours of 5pm- 9pm Wednesday night 20% of your bill will go towards our 5th grade class. We thank you in advance for your help with this fundraiser, and ask you to please go and enjoy a great meal while supporting our 5th grade class. Join us on Sunday, January 25th from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. at the school library. We will be hosting our annual book fair and will also have religious articles on sale provided by Easter s Catholic Books. God bless us all. RCIA-IT'S NOT JUST FOR THE UNBAPTIZED! (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS) RCIA meetings are ongoing. Meetings begin at 9:15 a.m. (immediately following the 8:00 Mass) every Sunday morning in Bishop Quinn Hall, behind the school, and last approximately 1½ hours. Contact Cathy for more information at # Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage An 8 day Pilgrimage for our Lady of Guadalupe is planned for April 13-20, Our Spiritual Tour Guide will be Father Francisco Hernandez our former Pastor. The group will depart from St. Isidore's Church on a Charter Bus and drive to San Francisco Airport, where we will a take a direct flight with United Airlines to Mexico City. We will spend 7 nights at the Hotel Galeria Plaza. The tour will include: Two separate days at The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with mass by Fr. Francisco; Zocalo plaza, Tepeyac Hill, Cuernavaca, Taxco, Tulpetlac, Teotihuacan(the Pyramids), Cholula, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Our Lady of Ocotlan, Xochimilco (the Floating Gardens) and other sites. Mass will be celebrated daily by Father Francisco at different churches on the tour, with a group Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy in the afternoons. Many spiritual and historic sites to visit relating to Our Lady's Apparitions to Juan Diego. Total cost is $2, per person, based on double occupancy. LAS AGUAS BAUTISMALES Cuando se planta un césped nuevo, debe regarse constantemente. Los jardineros dicen que esto teje el césped al suelo. Lo mismo sucede cuando se injerta una rama a un árbol: el cataplasma que los une debe estar húmedo en todo momento. El agua es lo que mantiene unidas a las células de nuestro cuerpo. Con razón las religiones de todas las épocas y culturas han usado tanto este símbolo. Cuando Jesús se sumerge en el Jordán para ser bautizado, se teje a todo aquello que lo precedía. Al sumergirse en el Jordán, se hizo uno con el pueblo de Israel que había cruzado el río para llegar a su Tierra Prometida. Junto a Juan Bautista, Cristo se tejió a la tradición profética que presagiaba la venida del Reino de Dios. Jesús se había convertido plenamente en humano en las aguas del vientre de María y al participar del rito del Bautismo del arrepentimiento, se sintió identificado con nuestra frágil y pecaminosa humanidad. Por las aguas del Bautismo Cristo continúa injertando nuevos miembros a su Cuerpo, la Iglesia; gracias a nuestro destino de vida eterna, por estas aguas somos limpiados del pecado y recibimos la promesa de la gracia.
