4 BUICK Regal Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Unclip the wood-grained trim ring from the factory cassette location. 2. Remove (4) 7/32" screws securing the cassette assembly and disconnect the wiring. NOTE: When using Metra s radio replacement pocket, follow steps 3-5 to replace the radio: 3. Unclip the entire dash trim bezel and remove. 4. Remove (2) 9/32" fasteners from the right side of the factory radio module and (2) fasteners from the left side. 5. Disconnect the wiring and remove the module. Factory Radio Wood-grained 4

5 BUICK Regal SHAFT HEAD UNITS: (see Figure A) 1. Slide the aftermarket head unit into the kit and secure with shaft nuts. DIN HEAD UNITS: (see Figure B) 1. Cut and remove the shaft supports from the Radio Housing. 2. Slide the DIN cage into the kit and secure by bending the metal locking tabs down. 3. 6 BUICK Regal FINAL ASSEMBLY 1. Locate the factory wiring harness located at the tuner box underneath the passenger side dash. Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter and making connections as shown. (Isolate and individually tape off the ends of any unused wires to prevent electrical short circuit). 10 CHEVROLET Camaro Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Remove (2) Phillips screws from the top of the driver's side knee bolster. 2. Remove (2) 7mm screws from the bottom of the knee bolster. 3. Open the glove box, remove (3) 7mm screws exposed on the right edge of the radio trim bezel and remove the bezel. 4. Remove (2) 7mm screws securing the left side of the factory head unit and (1) 10mm nut securing the right. 5. Slide the unit from the dash and disconnect the wiring. 6. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "A". Step 1-5 Step 6 "A" 10

11 CHEVROLET Bonneville Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 1. Unclip the right side of the dash trim bezel. 2. Unclip the left side of the bezel and remove. 3. Remove (3) 7mm hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 4. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "C". Step 1-3 DASH DISASSEMBLY Step 4 "C" 11

12 PONTIAC Grand Am Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Remove (2) Phillips screws from the pocket. 2. Remove (2) Phillips screws above the instrument cluster. 3. Unclip the dash trim bezel and remove. 4. Remove (3) 7mm hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 5. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "C". Step 1-4 Step 5 "C" 12

13 PONTIAC Grand Am Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 1. Unclip the radio trim bezel. 2. Remove (3) 9/32" screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring.ˇ 3. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "C". 14 PONTIAC Grand Prix Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Using a small set of pliers, grasp the retaining clip on the back of the gear shifter handle and remove the clip. 2. Remove the gear shifter handle. 3. Unclip the center console and remove. 4. Remove (2) 7mm hex-head screws exposed under the climate controls. 5. Unclip the radio trim bezel and remove. 6. Remove (2) 7mm hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 7. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "C". Step 1-6 Step 7 "C" 14

15 PONTIAC Grand Prix Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 1. Unclip the entire dash trim bezel. 2. Remove the screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 3. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "C". Step 1-2 DASH DISASSEMBLY Step 3 "C" 15

16 PONTIAC SUNFIRE Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Open the glove box and remove (2) Phillips screws exposed on the right edge of the radio trim bezel. 2. Unclip the bezel and remove. 3. Remove (2) 7mm hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 16

17 PONTIAC SUNFIRE Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "C". (see Fig. A). 2. Using a dremel tool, cut and remove the shaded portions of the sub-dash plastic. This will provide the necessary depth for installation. (see Fig. B). DASH DISASSEMBLY 17

18 PONTIAC Trans Am / Firebird 1993 Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Unclip the radio trim bezel. 2. Remove (4) 7mm hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 3. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "B". Step 1-2 Step 3 "B" 18

Remove (4) 7mm hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 3. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "C". 20 ALL VEHICLES KIT ASSEMBLY 2-SHAFT HEAD UNITS: (see Figure A) 1. Attach the Spacer* to the Radio Housing. Slide the aftermarket head unit into the kit and secure with shaft nuts. DIN HEAD UNITS: (see Figure B) 1. Cut and remove the shaft supports from the Spacer* and Radio Housing. 2. Slide the DIN cage into the kit and secure by bending the metal locking tabs down. 3. 21 ALL VEHICLES 1. Locate the factory wiring harness in the dash. Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter and making connections as shown. (Isolate and individually tape off the ends of any unused wires to prevent electrical short circuit). Reconnect the battery terminal and test the unit for proper operation. 2. Mount the head unit / kit assembly to the sub-dash with (3) 7mm hex-head screws previously removed in step 1. (Run the upper left screw through the dash plastic for the Grand Prix). SUNFIRE: (see Figure A) 1. Reconnect the battery terminal and test the unit for proper operation. 2. Mount the head unit / kit assembly to the sub-dash with (4) 7mm hex-head screws previously removed in step 1. CAMARO: (see Figure A) 1. Reconnect the battery terminal and test the unit for proper operation. 2. 26 ALL VEHICLES / AW-310SA Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Remove (2) pop-clips from the sides of the radio trim bezel. 2. Unclip the radio trim bezel, disconnect th switch wiring and remove the bezel. 3. Remove (2) 7mm hex-head screw securing the top of the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. 26

27 / AW-310SA ALL VEHICLES 2-SHAFT HEAD UNITS: (see Figure A) 1. Snap the Shaft Supports in to the Radio Housing. 2. Slide the aftermarket head unit into the kit and secure with shaft nuts. DIN HEAD UNITS: (see Figure B) 1. Slide the DIN cage into the kit and secure by bending the metal locking tabs down. 2. Slide the aftermarket head unit into the cage until secure. 32 ALL VEHICLES Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Unclip the trim bezel surrounding the factory head unit and climate controls. 2. Remove (4) screws securing the head unit/climate control assembly. 3. Reach under the dash and remove the colored tubing assembly connected to the "mode" control on the climate control panel. Pull the head unit/climate control assembly from the dash and disconnect the wiring. 5. Remove (4) screws securing the factory head unit to the metal bracket housing and remove the unit. 6. Remove (4) screws securing the climate controls to the metal bracket housing and remove the controls. 32

46 ALL VEHICLES KIT ASSEMBLY 1. Remove (2) phillips screws securing the climate control panel to the sub-dash and remove the panel. (see Figure A) 2. Using a small blade or saw, cut away the protruding tabs located between the screw holes and locating pins on the back of the panel. These tabs are brittle plastic and should NOT be cut with snips. (see Figure B) 3. Measuring in 9/16 from each side of the climate control panel lip, file away a 6 13/16 long by 3/32 deep portion of the panel lip. 47 ALL VEHICLES 1. Loosely mount the Equalizer Brackets to the sides of the equalizer. (see Figure A) 2. Using the Radio Housing as a gauge, slide the equalizer and housing into the sub-dash, adjust the equalizer brackets to locate the proper installation and tighten the screws. (see Figure B) 3. 50 CHEVROLET BERETTA / CORSICA Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. DASH DISASSEMBLY 1. Using a panel removal tool, pry out on the dash trim bezel and remove. 2. Remove (2) screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. (see Figure A) 3. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "B". (see Figure B) NOTE: The mounting tabs can be identified by the stamped letter on the back of each tab. Fig. A Fig. B "B" 50

51 BUICK ROADMASTER Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 1. Remove (2) screws from the driver's side service panel and unclip the panel. 2. Pry off the trim piece located above the glove box and remove (1) screw. 3. Remove (3) screws from the top edge of the dash trim bezel. Remove (1) screw from the lower-left corner of the glove box and (1) screw from the parking brake release. Remove the dash trim bezel. Remove (3) 9/32" hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. (see Figure A) 6. Cut and remove all mounting tabs on the Radio Housing EXCEPT tabs "A". Mount the Rear Support Bullet to the back of the aftermarket head unit using the hardware included with the unit. CAPRICE, ROADMASTER: (see Figure B) 1. Remove (2) 9/32" hex-head screws from the knee bolster. 2. Pull down on the bolster and remove 9/32" screws exposed on the base of the dash trim bezel. 3. Remove (1) Phillips screw above the instrument cluster. Unclip the dash trim bezel and remove. 4. Remove (2) 9/32" hex-head screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. CHEVROLET Caprice / Impala SS (Fig. B) Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 1. Remove (5) hex-head screws from the ashtray cavity. 2. Remove (4) hex-head screws from the base of the dash trim bezel. 3. Unsnap the fuse box cover and remove (1) hex-head screw exposed. 4. Remove (2) hex-head screws above the instrument cluster. Place the gear selector in "D1". Pull out on the cluster trim and remove. 5. Remove (1) hex-head screw exposed on the left edge of the dash trim bezel. Remove (1) Phillips screw from the defroster duct. 7. Remove the duct work and (1) Phillips screw exposed. 8. Remove the dash pad and (3) Phillips screws exposed at the top of the radio trim bezel. Unsnap the switch trim and remove (2) 10mm hex-head bolts exposed. 3. Open the center console door, remove (4) screws from the inner hinge and remove the door. 4. Open the ashtray and remove (1) screw exposed. 5. Remove the ashtray and (1) screw exposed. 6. Unclip the small grille to the left of the ignition switch and remove (1) screw exposed. Unclip the base of the radio trim bezel and remove. CHEVROLET Lumina / Monte Carlo (Fig. B) Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 1. 62 INST-GM1 ALL VEHICLES KIT ASSEMBLY 2-SHAFT HEAD UNITS: (see Figure A) 1. Attach the Spacer* to the Radio Housing. 2. Slide the aftermarket head unit into the kit and secure with shaft nuts. DIN HEAD UNITS: (see Figure B) 1. Cut and remove the shaft supports from the Spacer* and Radio Housing. 2. Place the converted Spacer into the Housing. Coloque el selector de marchas en "D1". Jale la terminación de grupos hacia afuera y retire. 5. Utilizando una hoja o sierra pequeñas, corte las lengüetas que sobresalgan entre los orificios de los tornillos y los pasadores de ubicación en la parte posterior del panel. Estas lengüetas son de plástico frágil y NO deben cortarse con tijeras. (Vea la Figura B). 3. Midiendo 9/16 in de cada lado del reborde del panel de control de clima, lime una parte del reborde del panel de 6 13/16 in de largo por 3/32 in de profundidad. (Vea la Figura C). 46

Desenganche el marco de terminación que rodea la unidad central de fábrica y los controles de clima. 2. Retire (4) tornillos que sujetan el conjunto de unidad central/control de clima. 3. Coloque la mano debajo del tablero y retire el conjunto de tuberías de color conectado al control "mode" (modo) en el panel de control de clima. Quite el conjunto de unidad central/control de clima del tablero y desconecte el cableado. 5. Retire (4) tornillos que sujetan la unidad central de fábrica al alojamiento del soporte de metal y retire la unidad. 6. Retire (4) tornillos Phillips que sujetan los controles de clima al alojamiento del soporte de metal y retire los controles. 32
