1 AP Spanish Tarea de Verano The AP exam consist of two sections: a multiple-choice section and a free response section. In the multiple-choice sections, you will respond to authentic print and audio texts using your interpretive communication skills. In the free-response sections, you will speak and write freely in response to both print and audio text prompts to demonstrate your interpersonal and presentational speaking and writing skills. The summer homework includes practice in listening, reading and writing. Listening to Spanish: You will listen to two audios or videos and keep a record of the date, title, web address, theme and length of audio selections. Follow the instructions in the worksheet attached below. I have provided a list of authentic news and cultural sources. It is important that you vary your sources and not use the same source for all of your entries. Accents and content vary, and it s important to expose yourself to different dialects. Finally, Telemundo and Univision run summer telenovelas. These are fun and easy to watch. They help develop your vocabulary and listening skills. They are a favorite in most Spanish speaking cultures. Try one for fun. You might get addicted! * If you decide to watch a telenovela, please verify content with your parents before watching. Reading in Spanish: You will read two articles and will write down at least 10 new vocabulary words or phrases, and their English equivalent. You also must write (in Spanish) a brief paragraph summarizing each article. Follow the instructions in the worksheet attached below. The readings on the AP exam are based largely on current events and world issues. It is important to be knowledgeable of these topics so that you can make intelligent connections when you write and speak during the exam. The following list of authentic news sources and cultural sites are a good start. Consider surfing the Internet for other Websites in Spanish. Again, the articles must be in Spanish and you must cite them in your packet.

Write as much as you can explaining in your own words your opinion and knowledge about each topic; start with an introduction paragraph and finish with a conclusion. I recommend getting a composition book to use specially for AP class, since we will keep using it during the school year.
