Bowe Room 8 EL PAPA NOS LLAMA A LA ORACION Con el telón de fondo de su Encíclica Laudato si, el Papa Francisco - compartiendo con el Patriarca Ecuménico Bartolomé la preocupación por el futuro de la creación ha decidido instituir también en la Iglesia Católica la «Jornada Mundial de Oración por el Cuidado de la Creación», que, a partir del año en curso, será celebrada el 1 de septiembre, como hace la Iglesia Ortodoxa. «Como cristianos, queremos ofrecer nuestra contribución para superar la crisis ecológica que está viviendo la humanidad», escribe el Papa, recordando luego la importancia de la conversión ecológica y del ecumenismo. Y haciendo hincapié en que «vivimos en un tiempo en el que todos los cristianos afrontamos idénticos e importantes desafíos, y a los que debemos dar respuestas comunes, si queremos ser más creíbles y eficaces». «Esperando la más amplia colaboración para el buen comienzo y desarrollo de la Jornada Mundial de Oración por el Cuidado de la Creación», el Obispo de Roma invoca la «intercesión de la Madre de Dios María Santísima y de san Francisco de Asís, cuyo Cántico de las Criaturas mueve a tantos hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad a vivir alabando al Creador y respetando la creación». PAPAL CALL TO PRAYER Pope Francis has established the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation which, beginning this year, will be celebrated on 1 September in conjunction with a similar day in the Orthodox Church. The Day Francis writes will offer individual believers and communities a fitting opportunity to reaffirm their personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live. The celebration of this Day, on the same date as that Orthodox Church prays for creation, will be an opportunity to bear witness to our growing communion with our Orthodox brothers and sisters, in a time when all Christians are faced with the same decisive challenges, to which we must respond together. The Pope then expressed his wish that this celebration may involve other Churches and ecclesial Communities. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS INSTALLATION St. Mary s Cathedral Council of The Knights of Columbus will hold its 2 nd annual Installation of Officers at the Cathedral, on Saturday September 26, with Mass at 5:30 pm, followed by the Installation Ceremony, and Dinner in St. Francis Hall. ROSARY RALLY Saturday, October 10, join priests, seminarians, your fellow Catholics, and Archbishop Cordileone in witnessing to the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith at the Fifth Annual San Francisco Rosary Rally! The day will begin with a 10:00 am Mass at St. Mary s Cathedral, followed by a procession to U.N. Plaza (on Market between 7th Street and Hyde) at 11:15 am. The rally begins in the Plaza at 12 noon. It will be completed and crowned with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.
