3 World History is a required course for 7th grade students. Students in this class will learn about the history, cultures, religions, and the geography of Ancient Civilizations. We will study the ancient civilizations of Rome, China, Japan, Africa, Europe and the Americas. One of the objectives in this course is to make the curriculum more accessible to students needs by using a variety of teaching methods to deliver content and Common Core State Standards. (CCSS)

CCSS are a coherent progression of learning expectations designed to prepare students, from kindergarten thru 12 th grade, for the university and to succeed in their careers c.! The CCSS were developed to provide a unified set of standards to ensure that all students in the country have access to the same academic content.

9 HOMEWORK/TAREA 1. Homework is given Monday - Thursday. Hay tarea de Lunes a Jueves. 2. No homework or projects assigned over the weekend or breaks. No habra tarea ni proyectos durante los fines de semana ni días festivos 3. Some long-term projects may span over the weekends, but not over breaks. Long term projects are given well in advance and students are given a timeline to complete. Algunos proyectos seran completados a largo plazo y cubriran fines de semana, sin embargo los estudiantes recibiran sus tares con mucho tiempo adelantado.

10 EXPECTATIONS/EXPECTATIVAS 1. Students will work on homework for at least 20 minutes a day in a quiet, non-distracting setting. Los estudiantes trabajaran en su tarea por lo menos 20 minutos al día en una area callada, y sin ninguna interupción. 2. If homework is incomplete or not turned in, students will stay after-school in our AFP program for an hour. Parents will be notified on the day students are required to stay. If a student fails to stay after-school to complete homework, he/she will be assigned after-school detention for 1 1/2 hour. Si la tarea es entregada incompleta o no es entregada, su hijo/hija tendra que quedarse después de escuela en nuestro programa de AFP para que complete su tarea. Si su hijo/hija se reusa a asister al programa de AFP, él/ella recibirá 1 1/12 de detención después de escuela. 3. Please encourage your child to do his/her best, ask questions when they don t understand how to complete the homework, focus on just one assignment at a time, and share their learning with you.
