1 CARGO LABORAL (ESPAÑOL) / JOB DESCRIPTION (ENGLISH) CARGO LABORAL Título del Cargo anunciado: Locación: Permanencia: Área Funcional: Responde ante: Researcher Data Mining & Mine Planning CSIRO Chile Oficina Corporativa/ Universidad de Chile / Universidad de Antofagasta Diciembre 2015 con la posibilidad para extender Universidad de Chile, Santiago Research and Development Director, CSIRO Chile Co-executor Project Leader, University of Chile, Dr. Nelson Morales Descripción de funciones: Descripción general El rol del personal de los Proyectos de Investigación de CSIRO es colaborar en las actividades científicas con otros investigadores, usualmente, asistiendo con los detalles de planeación, efectuando o ayudando con el trabajo experimental y observacional, y en la realización de los aspectos más prácticos del trabajo. Descripción del Cargo El cargo requiere la comprensión de los procesos que van desde la recolección de datos geológicos y operacionales en la mina, hasta la trasformación de estos datos en información útil para la planificación minera de la mina y el proceso de planificación en sí. El candidato tiene que ser capaz de entender y extraer diferentes flujos de trabajo (workflows) en las áreas de data mining, modelación de recursos y planificación minera, proporcionar visiones integradas e ideas de todo el proceso en términos de herramientas y metodologías que se estén desarrollando dentro del proyecto, y para aplicarlos en estudios de casos reales con contrapartes industriales. El rol requiere compartir las implicaciones de la nueva investigación produciendo informes sobre el desarrollo del trabajo, escribiendo documentos originales para su publicación en revistas y conferencias científicas y preparando informes y presentaciones técnicas para contrapartes industriales. Áreas de Deberes y Resultados Clave (Duties and Key Result Areas): Específicos Validar calidad de elementos de los datos y edición de datos (data elements/data editing) Realizar case studies en relación con los proyectos de investigación 1

2 General Implementar modelos y algoritmos como Softwares u otra herramienta computacional para la planificación minera Realizar búsquedas bibliográficas Aprender, analizar y extraer flujos de información y prácticas en la toma de decisión de las operaciones mineras. Preparar manuscritos de investigación y presentaciones o informes para uso interno o para apoyar presentaciones para la contraparte industrial Comunicación clara con el supervisor/es sobre los progresos del trabajo. Comunicarse de manera eficaz y respetuosamente con todo el equipo, clientes y proveedores con el interés de las buenas prácticas en el negocio, colaboración Trabajar colaborativamente con los colegas dentro del mismo equipo, la unidad de negocio y en todo CSIRO, para alcanzar los objetivos. Criterios de Selección: Pre-Requisitos: 1. Educación/Cualificación: Ingeniero de Minas. 2. Colaboración: Capaz de tener una actitud profesional y comportarse de manera respetuosa en un entorno colaborativo 3. Comunicación: Excelentes habilidades de comunicación y presentación. Capacidad para sostener reuniones y hacer presentaciones técnicas en inglés es positivo, pero no imprescindible. 4. Adaptabilidad: Capacidad para adaptarse a las demandas laborales y de abstracción de conceptos nuevos y globales. 5. Eficiencia: Ser capaz de completar tareas y propósitos con eficiencia dentro de los plazos establecidos. Criterios Esenciales: 1. Cualificación Universitaria Ingeniero de Minas. 2. Carrera profesional: Al menos dos años de experiencia. 3. Habilidades: a. Evidencia de capacidad para realizar investigación o innovación (ej: haber realizado un magíster, disponer de publicaciones científicas en revistas y/o conferencias del área de planificación minera). b. Poseer capacidad para comprender algoritmos y/o modelos como herramientas computacionales (macros Excel, Python, etc.), procesos c. Conocer conceptos de planificación bajo incertidumbre (riesgo, variabilidad, opciones reales, etc.) Criterios Deseables: 1. Conocimiento de herramientas de software comercial de planificación. 2. Capacidad de programación nivel medio (Excel, Python).

At senior levels, Research Projects staff may be involved in providing consulting services, science management and/or industry liaison. General Position Description The role of Research Data Mining and Planning at CSIRO Chile is to collaborate on the scientific activities of other researchers, usually, assisting in the details of planning and supporting the experimental and observational work and the execution of Project objectives. Position Description The position requires understanding of the process that goes from the collection of geological and operational data in the mine, the transformation of this data into useful information for the mine planning of the mine and the mine planning process itself. The candidate needs to be able to understand and abstract different workflows in the areas of data mining, resource modelling and mine planning, provide with integrated views and insights of the whole process in terms of tools and methodologies currently being developed within the project, and to apply these into real case studies with industrial counterparts. The role requires sharing the implications of new research by producing reports on the development of work, writing original papers for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences and preparing reports and technical presentations for industrial counterparts. Evidence of capacity in research and innovation (eg. Completed a Masters, scientific publications in journals and/or conferences in the área of mine planning. b. Possess capacity to understand algorithms and/or tools like computing tools and processes (macros Excel, Python etc.) c. Understanding of planning concepts under uncertainty (risk variability, real options etc) Desireable Criteria: 11. Knowledge of commercial planning software toold
