Simple Present Presente simple por Blanca Rosa González El tiempo Presente simple lo usamos para expresar eventos que generalmente son verdaderos, así como para expresar situaciones que ocurren algunas veces o que se repiten habitualmente, es decir ocurren frecuentemente todo el tiempo. use the Simple Present for things that are true in general, or for things that happen sometimes or all the time. (Murphy 1990 p. 10). lives in México. El vive en México. buys fruit everyday. Ella compra fruta todos los días. Figura 1. Figura 2. plays with her dolls. Ella juega con sus muñecas. play football every Saturday. Ellos juegan fútbol todos los sábados. Figura 3. Figura 4. eat with our grandmother. Nosotros comemos con nuestra abuela. Figura 5. 1
Oraciones afirmativas Affirmative sentences Cuando se estructuran oraciones, es necesario tomar en cuenta que existen dos tipos de pronombres: plurales y singulares, por lo que será necesario aplicar una regla distinta en la terminación del verbo. Observa cómo está escrito el verbo en cada caso. Plural Singular t Verb go clean pay goes cleans pays Complement to the zoo. the house. the bills. Tabla 1. Oraciones afirmativas. La ortografía de los verbos para los pronombres personales en singular Spelling of the verbs and the personal pronouns in singular Al estructurar enunciados afirmativos en el tiempo presente simple, es necesario poner especial atención en la forma de escribir el verbo, a continuación se presentan las reglas que establecidas al respecto: A la mayoría de los verbos, sólo se les agrega la terminación _s. wear, llevar puesto look, ver eat, comer wears looks eats Tabla 2. Verbos (Murphy, 1994 p. 280). 2
Pero a los verbos: go y do, se les agrega la terminación _es go, ir do, hacer goes does Tabla 3. Excepciones (Murphy, 1994 p. 280).
El verbo: have es un verbo irregular. have, tener has Tabla 7. Verbo have (Murphy, 1994 p. 280). 4
Oraciones negativas Negative sentences Para estructurar oraciones negativas, es necesario apoyarse en el verbo auxiliar Do para los pronombres personales en plural y Does para los pronombres personales en singular, es ahí donde debes poner mucha atención y usar el que corresponde, ya que el verbo quedará siempre igual con todos los pronombres personales. Observa detenidamente la siguiente tabla: Plural VERB Base form Complement Singular do not = don t go clean pay to the zoo. the house. the bills. t does not = doesn t Tabla 8. Oraciones negativas. Preguntas cortas Yes/No Questions Para estructurar preguntas, cortas, que buscan obtener una respuesta afirmativa o negativa, es necesario iniciar con el verbo auxiliar Do ó Does según corresponda. El verbo principal quedará igual con todos los pronombres personales. Nota que únicamente tenemos que cerrar la pregunta con signo de interrogación? 5
Plural VERB Base form Complement Do Singular go clean pay to the zoo? the house? the bills? Does t Tabla 9. Preguntas cortas. La estructura de preguntas que se presenta en la tabla anterior, se llaman preguntas de respuesta sí o no, pero también es posible formar una nueva pregunta iniciando con las famosas Question words, las cuales al utilizarlas, se forman preguntas que buscan obtener información más completa respecto a algo y no únicamente una respuesta si ó no. Where do they go? Why does she clean the house? What do we pay? A dónde van ellos? Por qué ella limpia la casa? Qué pagamos nosotros? 6
Respuestas cortas Short answers La estructura de respuestas cortas afirmativas es la siguiente: Plural Yes, do. Yes, Singular t does. Tabla 10. Respuestas cortas afirmativas. La estructura de respuestas cortas negativas es la siguiente: Plural No, don t. No, Singular t doesn t. Tabla 10. Respuestas cortas negativas. 7
