3 Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 20, 2014 Jesus speaks to us through the parable/ Jesús nos habla a través de la parábola SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Wisdom 12: God has the knowledge and the power to root out evil people if he so desires. But this reading speaks about his indulgence and how we should imitate it. Rom. 8:26-27: The Holy Spirit helps us to pray when we can t find the words to express what on our minds. Matthew 13:24-43: The Church, and indeed the world, is like a field in which wheat and weeds grow side by side until they are separated at the harvest time. The parable is both realistic and optimistic. The world is a mixture of light and darkness, good and evil. Wheat and weeds they grow side by side in the same person. In fact, not all is lost good is there too. No one understood this better than Jesus. We have to work on the good, but what about the evil? Evil has to be resisted. But we have to do so in such a way that we not don t do further evil in the process. Evil can only be overcome by good. We still have to struggle with the presence of evil. But it is through struggle that we grow. Struggle awakens all that is good and precious within us. God is more tolerant than we are. While we distinguish clearly between good and evil, we must aim at being as understanding and tolerant as God is. The time for judgment is not yet here. The Kingdom of God is still at a growing stage. Now is the time for conversion. People can change. We change /grow. Blessings, Fr. Efrain DECIMOSEXTO DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO Sabiduría 12: Dios tiene el conocimiento y el poder para acabar con los malvados si así lo deseaba. Pero esta lectura habla su indulgencia y cómo debemos imitarla. ROM. 8:26-27: El Espíritu Santo nos ayuda a orar cuando no podemos encontrar las palabras para expresar lo que está en nuestras mentes. Mateo 13:24-43: la Iglesia y de hecho el mundo, es como un campo en el que el trigo y la cizaña crecen al lado del otro hasta que se separan en el momento de la cosecha. La parábola es a la vez realista y optimista. El mundo es una mezcla de luz y oscuridad, del bien y del mal. El trigo y la cizaña crecen juntos en la misma persona, de hecho que en nosotros, aunque no todo está perdido - no somos tan buenos. Nadie entiende esto mejor que Jesús. Tenemos que trabajar en lo bueno. Pero, y el mal? El mal debe ser resistido. Pero tenemos que hacerlo de una manera que no hagamos más mal en el proceso. El mal puede ser superado sólo por el bien. Tenemos que luchar para erradicar en nosotros la presencia del mal. Pero es a través de esta lucha que nosotros crecemos. La lucha contra el mal despierta todo lo que es bueno, noble y precioso en nosotros. Dios es más tolerante que nosotros. Si bien distinguimos claramente entre el bien y el mal, debemos aspirar a ser tan comprensivo y tolerante como lo es Dios. El tiempo para juzgar aún no hay llegado. El Reino de Dios está todavía en la etapa de crecimiento. Ahora es el tiempo para la conversión. La gente puede cambiar. Podemos crecer. Mis Bendiciones, P. Efrain 3

The recommended volunteer time is 4 hours, but you can volunteer for more. Volunteers must be over 21 years old to work in the booth. If you are under 21, you may volunteer for set up and clean up.
