3 Pathways - Ownership Your child has been on an academic pathway for 11 years. How much longer depends on them. In KS1, 2 and 3, the pathway is largely chosen by the UK government, to a lesser extent the school and to little or no extent, the child. In KS4 and 5, the pathway options increasingly belong to the school but most importantly, and increasingly, your child.

4 Pathways - Responsibility In the UK, many students end their academic pathway at the end of Y11. Y12 is not a compulsory rite of passage and does not suit every young person. As ownership changes hands to your child, the options become more focused and specialized. The pathway becomes clearer and more defined. With ownership comes responsibility for options. To maximise your child s potential for success and to ensure students take responsibility for their options, there will only be a one month window to reconsider choices.

5 Academic Expectations to Access Y12 Minimum 5 (I)GCSEs Students are expected to: have taken the AS subject at IGCSE level achieve a grade B or above at IGCSE in order to take the subject at the higher AS Level have taken the Extended Level IGCSE (if relevant) in order to take the AS Level 5

6 Y12 Options To access UK and Spanish universities we offer a variety of pathways. To cover requirements of Spain, the UK - and more globally - students must choose 3 A Levels + A Level Spanish + PCE programme.

13 Graduating class of Students went to top tier universities across Spain, Germany, England, Scotland and the USA. Universities in the UK included Oxford, King s College, Loughborough, Oxford Brookes, Robert Gordon, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Durham and Surrey.

14 Graduating Class of For our current Y13s there are already some impressive offers from the likes of Imperial College London, Queen Mary University, University College London, University of Edinburgh, Warwick and Southampton.

15 Alumnos de Year 11 MÍNIMO OBLIGATORIO A SUPERAR 4 IGCSE s Lengua y Sociales RECOMENDABLE 5 IGCSE s Lengua y Sociales Requisitos que establece el Ministerio de Educación para convalidar la E.S.O. No tendrían que hacer más IGCSE s en Year 12 y Year 13. Al término de Year 11 los alumnos deberían tener una idea lo más concreta posible de los grados universitarios que quieren estudiar. Importancia de la orientación para saber qué asignaturas hacer. Consultar las tablas de ponderación de cada Universidad.

16 Alumnos de Year 12 y Year 13 MÍNIMO para poder acceder a la Universidad: 5 IGCSE s 2 A-levels completos RECOMENDABLE 5 IGCSE s 3 A-levels completos o 2 A-levels + 2 AS Mínimo para homologar el Bachillerato. Accederían por la vía de acceso directo. Les van a contar las 4 mejores calificaciones de A-levels o de PCE s. Es al término de Year 13 cuando los alumnos se examinarían de las PCE s (equivalente a la Selectividad), que aparecerán en su credencial y serán valoradas por las Universidades en sus procesos de admisión.

TRONCAL GENERAL DE TODAS LAS RAMAS

19 Vías de acceso y modalidad de Bachillerato Acceso directo 3 AL completos o 2 AL + 2 AS. Modalidad establecida por los A-levels o por las PCE. Vía de homologación del Bachillerato: 2 A-levels completos. Modalidad establecida por un máximo de 4 PCE s. AÚN NO SABEMOS QUÉ UNIVERSIDADES VAN A EXIGIR EL TENER RECONOCIDA UNA MODALIDAD COMPLETA DE BACHILLERATO (se prevé que para carreras técnicas sí se exija la modalidad de Ciencias, pero aún está por determinar).

Tomorrow you will receive an Options Letter and Form. Please discuss as a family the options available and consider carefully the best pathway subject options. Indicate the chosen subjects and return the form to school by Thursday March 30 th.
