2 Week of November 10 Dear McKinley Families: Thank you to everyone who participated in our first Veterans Day celebration this past Friday. It was nice to see the veterans with their families. A special thank you to everyone who made this special event possible (i.e. Lily, Heather & Alex)! I m happy to share that all of our teachers have met in grade level teams to share best practices, share resources, discuss the common core English language arts standards, and plan instruction. Grades K-1 met with a consultant to gain a deeper understanding of the common core English language arts standards and grades 2-5 met with our site literacy coach. Teachers will be working together throughout the year to analyze data, share best practices and plan instruction. Special thanks to everyone who participated in PTAs restaurant fundraising night on Thursday. We appreciate your support. 7 It s time for the 2014 McKinley Talent Show INFORMATION ABOUT THE TALENT SHOW - PLEASE READ!!! 1. ONLY adults may fill out the entry form. Every performer (even those in group numbers) must turn in an entry form by Wednesday, November 19th. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. NO EXCEPTIONS! 2. ONLY ONE talent routine is allowed per child. *Students may also participate in Ms. DeBeech s group performance.* See below. 3. There will be a two-minute time limit for each performance. Performers are encouraged to share any talent they have including, but not limited to, singing, dancing, magic, poetry-reading, comedy, martial arts demonstrations, and of course, lip syncing! 4. Each talent show performer must attend at least three regular rehearsals plus the dress rehearsal. Rehearsals will be held in the auditorium (See schedule below) 5. Each student performing a song or dance must turn in the lyrics to their song with their entry form. Songs with adult language and/or content will not be accepted. 6. Class meets one day per week for 1 hour. Class begins 15 minutes after school dismissal. (K) participants will be picked up by coach at dismissal time. No Games.
