5 June 7, 2015 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ V Congratulations to the MBS Class of 2015! The diplomas have been distributed, the medals and awards presented, the speeches given and the goodbyes tearfully spoken. Wasn t it just yesterday that these students were posing for photos around the historic Mission fountain with their MBS Kindergarten class? Graduation was a special day for these students, their families, friends and the faculty and staff of MBS. It began with the graduation Mass celebrated by Monsignors Holquin and McKiernan. Valedictorian Sofia Vaquerano gave a moving speech to the graduates and the alumni choir sounded beautiful under the direction of choral director and Mission School alum Ms. Bishop. The graduates and their parents enjoyed a special graduation dinner in the beautifully decorated gym. Salutatorians Racquelle Vellandi and Connor Kuczynski shared their thoughts during the presentation portion of the evening as the dedicated faculty and staff were honored. The graduates sang a sentimental tribute, Count On Me to their parents and then finished out the night dancing, enjoying the candy bar and taking silly photos with their life time friends in the photo booth. The graduates are looking to the future as they head off to Santa Margarita Catholic High School, San Juan Hills High School, JSerra Catholic High School, Tesoro and Laguna Hills High School. They will bring their many talents to their new schools but will always be considered a part of the Mission family. Once a Swallow always a Swallow! Niños: Cómo puedo prepararme para recibir la Santa Comunión? MENSAJE DE LA SEMANA: Siguiendo la liturgia, nos disponemos a celebrar el DÍA DEL CORPUS, una de las fiestas más luminosas de nuestro pueblo. De hecho, es el REGALO que el mismo JESÚS dejó a su comunidad en la despedida; es su testamento. Esta fiesta -con expresiones externas y callejeras- no puede quedar ahí. Honrar el CUERPO de CRISTO significa comulgar con Él, con su persona, con sus sentimientos y actitudes. Asimismo, honrar el Cuerpo de Cristo significa acercarse al hermano con mayor respeto y disponibilidad, porque él también es cuerpo de Cristo. NO esperes a que tu hijo/a te digan Ya no quiero ir. Toma inicativa y continua su desarrollo espiritual. Los paquetes de inscripción para el próximo año catequético ya fueron enviados con tus hijos/as a casa. Toma acción ya que tu familia tiene prioridad hasta el 15 de junio. Después se abrirá a toda la comunidad. Los primeros que lleguen serán los que queden inscritos. NO PERMITAS que tus hijos/as tomen descanso de construir una relación con Dios. Después puede ser demasiado tarde. MARCA EL EJEMPLO a ellos. Papas!!! De ti depende que tus hijos continúen recibiendo la comunión cada domingo. Durante los meses del verano, TODOS los niños que están en RCIA deben venir a misa los domingos y participar en una de estas dos: (comenzando el mes de junio) Misa de 9:00A.M. (inglés) Misa de 1:00P.M. (español) Cada domingo que venga su hijo/a y participe, antes de regresar a la Basílica, para continuar la misa, él/ella deberá de tomar una estampita (sticker) que estará en una canasta en el salón donde se lleva a cabo La Liturgia de la Palabra (sótano). Al final del verano, antes de volver a clases del catecumenado y educación religiosa tendremos una recepción con los niños que tengan el mayor número de stickers (approx. 10) también recibirá un premio por su dedicación y participación.
