2 May 25, de mayo, 2014 Dear Parishioners, Congratulations once again to our newly ordained priest, Father Jamie Mueller. I would also like to congratulate our newly ordained permanent deacons, Pablo Albarran and Fredy Muñoz. On behalf of our parishioners, I would like to thank Fr. Mueller and deacon Albarran and deacon Muñoz and their families for their generous response to God s call to the priesthood and the diaconate. We have been so blessed by your calling and we assure you of our constant prayers for your perseverance in your chosen vocation. We pray that the Lord will send more workers (deacons, priests and religious men and women) in the vineyard of the Lord. As we know the harvest is rich but the laborers are few. The Lord has admonished us to pray to the master of the harvest to send more workers to the vineyard. We continue to see the works of the risen Lord in our parish community. God has blessed us with our newly ordained Father Jamie, Deacon Fredy and Deacon Pablo. God has blessed our community with those who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation as well as those who have received the Lord in the Eucharist for their first Holy Communion. We also witnessed the 20 couples who have received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony (Bodas Marianas). We thank Father Benjamin who coordinated this event together with FAMENAL and the Pre-Cana group. It was a team effort and it is this that makes our parish vibrant and united in the Spirit of God. We have celebrated the May crowning ceremonies with our school children last week. We crowned our Blessed Virgin Mary as our way of honoring her as the Mother of our Savior and as our mother too. I also would like to inform our parishioners that last May 13 (Feast of our Lady of Fatima), I was commissioned as a U.S. Navy officer (chaplain-reserve). I will continue to serve as your pastor while serving at the U.S. Naval base (Great Lakes) in a very limited capacity. Let us pray for our men and women in the Military serving our country and the world. May the peace of the Risen Lord be with you all! Fr. Jacque Beltran Queridos feligreses, Felicidades una vez más a nuestro nuevo sacerdote, Padre Jamie Mueller. También me gustaría felicitar a nuestros diáconos permanentes ordenados recientemente, Pablo Albarrán y Fredy Muñoz. En nombre de nuestros feligreses, me gustaría agradecer al Padre Mueller y el diácono Albarrán y diácono Muñoz y sus familias por su respuesta generosa al llamado de Dios al sacerdocio y el diaconado. Hemos sido tan bendecidos por su vocación y les aseguramos nuestras oraciones constantes por su perseverancia en su vocación elegida. Oramos para que el Señor envíe más trabajadores (diáconos, sacerdotes, religiosos y religiosas) a la viña del Señor. Como sabemos "la cosecha es mucha y los obreros pocos. El Señor nos exhorta a orar al dueño de la cosecha para que envíe más obreros a la viña. Seguimos viendo las obras del Señor resucitado en nuestra comunidad parroquial. Dios nos ha bendecido con nuestro recién ordenado Padre Jamie, Diácono Fredy y Diácono Pablo. Dios ha bendecido a nuestra comunidad con aquellos que han recibido el sacramento de la Confirmación, así como con los que han recibido al Señor en la Eucaristía para su Primera Comunión. También fuimos testigos de las 20 parejas que recibieron el sacramento del Santo Matrimonio (Bodas Marianas). Damos las gracias al Padre Benjamín quien coordinó este evento junto con FAMENAL y el grupo de Pre-Cana. Fue un esfuerzo de equipo y esto es lo que hace que nuestra parroquia sea vibrante y unida en el Espíritu de Dios. Celebramos la ceremonia de coronación de Mayo con nuestros niños de la escuela la semana pasada. Coronamos a nuestra Santísima Virgen María como una manera de honrarla como la Madre de nuestro Salvador y como nuestra madre. También me gustaría informar a nuestros feligreses que el pasado 13 de mayo (Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Fátima), fui comisionado como oficial de la Marina de los EE.UU. (capellán-reserva). Voy a seguir como su párroco mientras estoy sirviendo en la base naval de EE.UU. (Great Lakes) en una capacidad muy limitada. Oremos por nuestros hombres y mujeres que están en las Fuerzas Armadas al servicio de nuestro país y del mundo. Que la paz del Señor resucitado esté con todos ustedes! 3 To: God s People A: Todo el Pueblo de Dios If you loved me you would keep my commandments-- -How True---According to the gospel!!!!!!! But how can we, as people of God, make this a realityto someone that has never had a real encounter with God? That s what we deal with every day when we visit the inmates at the Lake County jail. By we, I mean the other deacons and lay ministers as well as Sisters. All that we do is team-work, everybody helps out with books, bibles, prayer cards, mail stamps, etc., especially Kolby House. This ministry is way beyond what we can imagine it to be-it is not about just Catholics, it is about God s people we are there for all faith groups We are God s people indeed because we come from God, but also we must be team players to actually be God s people, this is one of the explanations I shared with some of my bible study brothers at the jail. For us Catholics thanks be to God. For some thank you Jesus. And the list goes on and on, now let us talk about team work father, son, how about the Holy Spirit, it is like we just do not pay any attention to the third person of the Holy Trinity. God gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us, this is one of the many ways to talk to the Holy Spirit, get out of your comfort zone. Prayers during mass are good communal prayers but now IS TIME THAT YOU ACTUALLY PRAY WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. How is that? At night at bedtime talk to God, thank him for his son Jesus, ask him to have mercy for the things that have kept you from keeping his commandments, and say it over and over and over asking the Holy Spirit to speak on your behalf, say it a thousand times if you have to, before you know it you will be crying your heart out, by this time you accomplished what we need to do more often including myself, acknowledge, accept, repent, confess, and the peace of God and grace will be upon you. Guess what? Some of those people got out of jail and they have come back to Most Blessed Trinity Parish. In keeping with God s commandments we should all be spreading the Gospel. That is why what we are commanded to do at the end of Mass, to Love and Serve the Lord. Deacon Pedro Martínez Según el evangelio. Si me amaras, habrías de guardar mis mandamientos. Qué tan cierto! Pero, cómo podemos nosotros, como pueblo de Dios, hacer de esto una realidad a alguien que nunca ha tenido un verdadero encuentro con Dios? Con eso es lo que lidiamos todos los días cuando visitamos a los presos en la cárcel del Condado de Lake. Mediante nosotros, me refiero a los otros diáconos y ministros laicos así como Hermanas. Todo lo que hacemos es trabajo en equipo, todos ayudan con libros, biblias, tarjetas de oración, estampillas, etc., especialmente Kolbe House. Este ministerio es mucho más de lo que podíamos haber imaginado que fuera-no se trata sólo de los católicos, se trata del pueblo de Dios. Estamos allí para todos los grupos de fe. En verdad somos el pueblo de Dios, porque venimos de Dios, pero también debemos estar en equipo para ser realmente el pueblo de Dios, esta es una de las explicaciones que compartí con algunos de mis hermanos del estudio bíblico en la cárcel. Para nosotros los católicos "gracias a Dios," para otros, "gracias a Jesús," y la lista sigue y sigue. Ahora, vamos a hablar de trabajo en equipo-el padre, el hijo, y que tal el Espíritu Santo, es como si simplemente no prestamos atención a la tercera persona de la Santísima Trinidad. Dios nos dio el don del Espíritu Santo para que nos ayude, esta es una de las muchas maneras de hablar con el Espíritu Santo-debemos salir de nuestra zona de confort. Las oraciones durante la misa son buenas oraciones comunales, pero ahora es el tiempo para que realmente OREN CON EL ESPIRITU SANTO. Usted puede preguntarse, cómo es eso? Por la noche antes de acostarse, hable con Dios, dele las gracias por su hijo Jesús, pídale que tenga misericordia de las cosas que le han impedido guardar sus mandamientos, y diga una y otra vez mientras que le pide al Espíritu Santo que hable en su nombre, dígalo una y mil veces si es necesario, antes de que se de cuenta usted va a estar llorando y en ese momento usted habrá logrado lo que tenemos que hacer más a menudo, incluido yo mismo, reconocer, aceptar, arrepentirse, confesar, para que la paz de Dios y la gracia estén con nosotros. Saben una cosa? Algunas de esas personas salieron de la cárcel y han regresado a la Parroquia Santísima Trinidad. De acuerdo con los mandamientos de Dios todos deberíamos estar predicando el Evangelio. Es por eso que debemos hacer lo que se nos manda a hacer al final de la misa, "amar y servir al Señor." 4 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I know that I have already met many of you as a Deacon. I am very grateful to God that Cardinal George is sending me to you to serve as your new priest. I can t tell you how excited I am to be a part of your community and very much look forward to getting to know you all more in the upcoming months and years! I will be back to Blessed Trinity starting the weekend of July 4 and will celebrate two First Masses in the parish: -9:00 AM at Holy Family -1:30 PM at Holy Family As I mentioned before, for my first year I will be at the parish only on the weekends, as I have been assigned to go on for one additional year of postgraduate studies at Mundelein Seminary. Upon finishing my additional studies, I will be with you fulltime. I am from St. James Parish in Arlington Heights, the youngest of four children, raised by my mother, Mary Anne. When I was young, my mother would bring me to Mass every day with her, which was where I began to hear God s call. In high school, I had the opportunity to travel to Michoacán, Mexico (I didn t speak a word of Spanish!) after which I resolved to learn Spanish. I attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where I studied Spanish and International Relations for four years, one of which I spent in Granada, Spain. After graduating in 2007, I spent six weeks in Tijuana, Mexico with the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa and then returned to work for a year in Chicago. Upon hearing God s call a little stronger in my heart, I entered Mundelein Seminary in I was able to spend one summer in Medellin, Colombia and two summers in El Salvador at an orphanage named Nuestros Pequeῆos Hermanos (Our Little Brothers & Sisters). I am so grateful to God that this day has finally come! As Psalm 116 says, How can I repay the Lord for His goodness to me? Again, I am so grateful and honored to be coming to Blessed Trinity and I look forward to getting to know you all in the upcoming months & years. I pray that God, our loving Father, bless you and your families abundantly with the peace, joy, and love that only He can give, and I humbly ask for your prayers for me. Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo, Ya he conocido a muchos de ustedes como diácono. Estoy muy agradecido y feliz que nuestro Cardenal Francis George me está enviando a servirles como sacerdote. Estoy tan emocionado de ser parte de su comunidad y espero con gozo la oportunidad de conocer a todos ustedes más en los meses y años que vienen! Regresaré a estar con ustedes otra vez el 4 de Julio y celebraré dos canta misas en la parroquia: -9:00 AM en Sagrada Familia -1:30 PM en Sagrada Familia Como les dije, por el primer año en la parroquia estaré sólo en los fines de semana, ya que me asignaron estudiar un año más en el Seminario de Mundelein. Cuando termine mis estudios, estaré con ustedes a tiempo completo. Soy de la Parroquia de San Santiago en Arlington Heights. Soy el menor de cuatro hijos, criados por mi mamá, María Anna. Cuando yo era niῆo, mi mamá me llevaba a todos los días, y fue allí donde empecé a escuchar el llamado de Dios. Durante la secundaria, tuve la oportunidad de viajar a Michoacán, México ( aunque no hablaba ni una palabra de español!). Me molestaba tanto que no podía hablar con nadie que resolví aprender español. Por eso, cuando fui a La Universidad de Illinois, decidí estudiar español y relaciones internacionales. Pasé un semestre en Granada, España. Después de graduarme en 2007, pasé seis semanas en Tijuana, México con los Misioneros de la Caridad de Madre Teresa y luego trabajé un año en Chicago. Durante este año, escuché el llamado de Dios más fuerte en el corazón y decidí entrar en el seminario en Pasé un verano en Medellín, Colombia y dos veranos en un orfanato que se llama Nuestros Pequeños hermanos en El Salvador. Estoy tan agradecido con Dios que ha llegado este día! Como dice el Salmo 116, Cómo le devolveré al Señor todo el bien que me ha hecho? Otra vez, quiero expresar mi gratitud y alegría al ser enviado a estar con ustedes y espero conocerlos los próximos meses y años. Rezo que Dios, nuestro Padre amoroso, los bendiga a ustedes y a sus familias abundantemente con la paz, la alegría, y el amor que solo Él puede dar, y les pido por sus oraciones por mí.
