2 Fundación Azteca America (FAzA) nace a partir de una inquietud de los empleados y ejecutivos de Azteca America. Azteca America, al igual que las otras empresas de Grupo Salinas, se enfoca en el mejoramiento de la sociedad en las comunidades en donde opera. Es por esto que en 2005 surge Fundación Azteca America, como un vehículo para promover el bienestar de las comunidades Latinas que residen en los Estados Unidos. FAzA es una organización que no se especializa en un problema en particular, más bien se concentra en distintos asuntos sociales y migratorios que afectan a la comunidad a nivel nacional. Por lo tanto, trabajamos con organizaciones no lucrativas, ayudándolas a cumplir sus metas. Buscamos informar, recabar fondos y crear conciencia sobre los distintos problemas que enfrenta la comunidad hispana en los Estados Unidos. 3 Fundación Azteca America (FAzA) was created as an initiative from Azteca America s employees and management. Azteca America, like all the other Grupo Salinas companies, has as a core value improving the quality of life of the people in the communities where it operates. Thus, we created FAzA as a vehicle to promote the well-being of the Hispanic communities in the United States. FAzA is an organization that does not specialize in any particular problem, but rather focuses on an array of social and immigration issues at the national level; therefore, we work with existing non-profit organizations in order to make them more successful in reaching their goals. We want to educate, fundraise and create awareness on important issues facing the Hispanic community in the United States. THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY IS OUR PRIORITY, LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO BRING POSITIVE CHANGE!

4 QUÉ NECESITO SABER PARA VOTAR? En Estados Unidos, las elecciones presidenciales se llevan a cabo el 1er martes de noviembre, cada cuatro años. Las próximas elecciones para presidente y vice presidente están programadas para el martes 4 de noviembre de Además de las elecciones presidenciales, tenemos otro tipo de elecciones las cuales varían en fechas y causas. Entre las principales encontramos: Elecciones para el Congreso de los Estados Unidos (Senado y Cámara de Representantes) Elecciones Estatales Elecciones Locales Iniciativas/propuestas (enmiendas a la Constitución) VOTING: WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW? The United States presidential elections are held on the 1st Tuesday in November every four years. The next election for President and Vice President of the United States is scheduled to be held on November 4, In addition, there are different levels of elections that vary on timing and occasion: Congressional Elections (Senate and House of Representatives) State Elections Local Elections Initiatives/Proposals (Amendments to the Constitution) TODAS LAS ELECCIONES SON IMPORTANTES, DE ELLAS DEPENDE NUESTRO FUTURO. ES POR ELLO QUE DEBES VOTAR EN TODOS LOS NIVELES. TU OPINIÓN Y TU DECISIÓN CUENTAN, VOTA! EVERY ELECTION IS IMPORTANT, AND OUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON THEM SO YOU SHOULD VOTE AT EVERY LEVEL. YOUR OPINION AND YOUR CHOICE MATTER AND YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY VOTING.

5 El derecho a votar es un derecho fundamental y está garantizado para todos los ciudadanos de EUA por la décimo quinta enmienda a la constitución. Cada votante tiene el derecho de presentar un voto informado y efectivo - este derecho también aplica a las personas que no hablan inglés como su lengua materna. Si votamos podemos fortalecer y brindarles mejores oportunidades en un futuro a los nuestros, así que regístrate y no te olvides de votar! The right to vote is a fundamental and basic right, guaranteed to all U.S. citizens by the Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Each voter has the right to cast an informed and effective vote this right also applies to those who don t speak English as their first language. Improving civic engagement amongst Latino citizens in the United States will allow for better opportunities and create community empowerment please make your voice heard and register to vote!

6 CÓMO PUEDO VOTAR? El proceso del registro de votantes varía dentro de los Estados Unidos. Todos los estados a excepción de Dakota del Norte requieren que los ciudadanos se registren para votar. Cada estado y el distrito de Columbia requieren que los votantes sean ciudadanos de EUA, que tengan por lo menos 18 años de edad, y que sean residentes del estado en el cual planean votar. HOW CAN I VOTE? The voter registration process varies across the country. All states, with the exception of North Dakota, require citizens to register in order to vote. Every state and the District of Columbia require that voters be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and residents of the state in which they plan to vote.

7 Requisitos: Ser mayor de 18 años y ciudadano estadouni-dense: Puedes registrarte para votar tan pronto cumplas los 18 años y/o seas ciudadano de EUA. Regístrate: Puedes registrarte en tu Oficina Electoral (Election Board), las oficinas del estado que proporcionan servicios públicos o programas de ayuda y en el Departamento Vehicular (Department of Motor Vehicles). Completa el Formulario de Inscripción al Votante: Los formularios los puedes encontrar en tus oficinas municipales, en las oficinas de correo local, o en la mayoría de las bibliotecas públicas. Envía el Formulario: Una vez que tengas el formulario impreso y completo, debes enviarlo a tu consejo de elección local. Si cambiaste tu dirección tienes que volver a registrarte para votar. De la misma ma-nera, si deseas cambiar tu afiliación de partido político debes registrarte de nuevo. Mantén presente que existe una fecha límite de registro antes de las elecciones. Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen: You can register to vote as soon as you turn 18 years old and/or become a U.S. citizen. Register: You can register to vote at your local Elections Board/Office, state offices which provide public services or assistance programs, and your local Department of Motor Vehicles. Fill out a Voter Registration Form: To find the voter registration forms contact your city/municipal offices, your local post office or most libraries. Mail in your Registration Form: Once you have filled out your voter registration form you can mail it to your local election board. If you have changed your address you must re-register to vote. Similarly, if you wish to change your political party affiliation you must re-register to vote. Keep in mind there is a close of registration date before elections.
