It s fast! It s easy! It s convenient and secure! Go online to: DAILY MASS SCHEDULE Mass Schedule Sometimes we get the idea that having material wealth is a bad thing. We may convince ourselves that it is the poor who are favored. In today s readings, we discover that material wealth alone does not keep us from discipleship. We will see that there are other gifts more important than material wealth, but even so, it is how we use our gifts that matters most. Today s scriptures point to the value of the gifts of wisdom, trusting in God, and letting our actions reflect the love of God from within. It is not gold that causes us to fall, but rather the desire for gold above all other things. From the readings in Wisdom and Hebrews, we find the source of God s gifts in our lives. Wisdom is more valuable than worldly possessions. In Hebrews, we are challenged to look at our own values and admit honestly what controls our lives. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. MISSION SUNDAY - OCTOBER DOMINGO DE MISSIONES 10 Y 11 DE OCTUBRE CTOBER 10 & 11 This weekend of October 10/11 representatives of The Order of Friar Servants of Mary (Servites)-USA Province, will be here to talk about their missionary work in KwaZulu-Natal, Republic of South Africa. The Servites are one of the mendicant orders and were founded in the 13th century in Florence, Italy. At the present time they serve all over the world in every type of apostolate. The USA Province of Servites is responsible for the missions in KwaZulu-Natal. The main task of the missionaries today continues to be the proclamation of the Gospel and the establishment of viable Catholic communities. The idea that the people are the church is quite strong and participation in the liturgy and the work of the Church is very good. Other ministries include education, primary health care centers and providing funding to improve the water system to root out malaria. They are also ministering to the victims of the "AIDS' epidemic and the building of homes for these victims and other people of the area. They are in need of prayers and material help to carry on these ministries. God Bless you for your prayers and financial assistance. Este fin de semana, 10 y 11 de octubre, 2015, un representante de la Orden de los siervos de Marfa (servitas) de la Provincia de los Estados Unidos de America, nos visitará y hablará sobre el labor misionera de los siervos de Maria en KwaZulu-Natal, Republica de Sudafrica. La Orden de los siervos de Maria es una de las órdenes mendicantes de la Iglesia Católica y fue fundada en 1233 en Florencia, Italia. Actualmente, se encuentra en todas partes del mundo y en todo tipo de apostolado. La Provincia de los Estados Unidos de America es reponsable por las misiones en KwaZulu-Natal, Republica de Sudafrica. La tarea principal de los misioneros sigue siendo hoy la proclamación del evangelio y la formaci6n de communidades católicas viables. La idea de que el pueblo es la Iglesia está bien arraigada y la participación en la liturgia y en el labor de la Iglesia es muy bueno. 4 TRINITY GUILD NEEDS Next time you are at the grocery store, pick up an extra box of cereal for the Trinity Guild pantry. We have a great need for cereal as well as any non perishable foods. Donations can be placed in baskets at the entry to the church. If you have extra fruit or vegetables for the pantry, you may drop them off at the Parish Office. You may also drop your donations at the Food Pantry on Mondays and Fridays from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon or on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday of the month. We continue to ask for your monetary donations as well. Please make your checks payable to La Purísima and write Trinity Guild in the memo section so that it can be applied directly to the Trinity Guild fund. Many blessings for all of your support. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS If you are interested in getting involved with La Purísima Church, families, and community, look to the Knights of Columbus. The K of C provides an opportunity for fraternal camaraderie, while meeting our families, and supporting the priests and community. The Knights were formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled, and needy members and their families. K of C from La Purisima and Holy Family Cathedral meet the first Thursday of the month and are active in several fundraisers and community activities. These include La Purisima Fish Fry, Holy Family Fiesta, golf tournament, OLSF basketball free throw contest for students, and meal preparation for Isaiah House.
