7 Chapter 1: Regulatory information and safety precautions Read the information in this section to learn about regulatory conformities and compliance. International Regulatory Statements of Conformity This is to certify that the Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 equipment was evaluated to the international regulatory standards for electromagnetic compliance (EMC) and safety and were found to have met the requirements for the following international standards: EMC Electromagnetic Emissions CISPR 22, Class A EMC Electromagnetic Immunity CISPR 24 Electrical Safety IEC 60950, with CB member national deviations Further, the equipment has been certified as compliant with the national standards as detailed below. National Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC) Statements of Compliance FCC statement (USA only) This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If it is not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, it may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which case users will be required to take whatever measures may be necessary to correct the interference at their own expense. TIA-968-A This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules. The FCC Part 68 label is located on the bottom chassis panel. This label contains the FCC Registration Number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this equipment. If requested, this information must be provided to your telephone company. Connection to the telephone network should be made by using standard modular telephone jacks, type RJ-48C. The RJ-48C plug and/or jacks used must comply with the FCC Part 68 rules. 12 Regulatory information and safety precautions National Environmental Statement of Compliance The WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive 2002/95/EC sets collection, recycling and recovery targets for various categories of electrical products and their waste. RoHS Directive Compliance Statement The Restriction on Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) (2002/95/EC), which accompanies the WEEE Directive, bans the use of heavy metals and brominated flameretardants in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment. Specifically, restricted materials under the RoHS Directive are Lead (including solder used in PCBs), Cadmium, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, and Bromine. Avaya declares compliance with the European Union (EU) RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC). 15 Chapter 3: English Before you begin Site location is important for the proper operation of the Advanced Gateway Ensure the area where you install and use the Advanced Gateway 2330 meets the following environmental requirements: Ambient temperature between 32 and 104 F (0 and 40 C) Noncondensing relative humidity - between 0% and 95% for the Advanced Gateway 2330 No nearby heat sources such as hot air vents or direct sunlight No nearby sources of severe electromagnetic noise No excessive dust Adequate power source within six feet; one circuit required for each power supply (see table, AC and DC power specifications) At least 2 inches (5.08 cm) on each side of the switch unit for ventilation Between 2 to 3 feet (ft) (0.61 to 0.91 meters [m]) of additional clearance around the Advanced Gateway 2330 for access to the cable connectors on the front and front panels Installing the Advanced Gateway 2330 on a table or shelf You can install a single Advanced Gateway 2330 on any flat surface that can safely support the weight of the router with interface modules installed (8.5 pounds or 3.85 kilograms). Follow these steps to install the Advanced Gateway 2330 on a table of shelf: 1. Attach rubber feet to each of the four corners on the bottom of the chassis. 2. Set the router on a table or shelf. The Advanced Gateway 2330 has two internal, non-removable fans. Allow sufficient clearance within and around the unit for maintenance and for proper airflow. Keep cable bundles clear of the intake and exhaust vents. Regulatory Information August

16 English Installing the Advanced Gateway 2330 on a wall or under a desktop Required tool: Phillips screwdriver for attaching brackets to the switch. Follow these steps to install the Advanced Gateway 2330 under a desktop: 1. Attach a mounting bracket to each side of the router. You can install the mounting brackets for either the front or rear panel of the router to face the operator. The following figures illustrate the mounting bracket positions for under-desktop installation. Figure 1: Front panel facing operator Figure 2: Rear panel facing operator 2. Insert screws through the holes in the mounting brackets into the underside of the desktop. 17 Installing the Advanced Gateway 2330 in an equipment rack 1. Attach a mounting bracket to each side of the router. The following figure illustrates the mounting bracket position for a wall installation. 2. Insert screws through the holes in the mounting brackets into the wall location. The Advanced Gateway 2330 has two internal, non-removable fans. Allow sufficient clearance for maintenance and for proper airflow. Keep cable bundles clear of the intake and exhaust vents. Installing the Advanced Gateway 2330 in an equipment rack Required tool: Phillips screwdriver for attaching brackets to the switch. The Advanced Gateway 2330 requires one rack unit (1.75 inches, millimeters) The rack must be bolted to the floor, and braced if necessary. The rack must be grounded to the same grounding electrode used by the power service in the area. The ground path must be permanent and must not exceed 1 ohm of resistance from the rack to the grounding electrode. Ensure that the mounting brackets are firmly installed on the chassis. Ensure that you have appropriate antistatic materials. Electrostatic alert: Risk of equipment damage Regulatory Information August

18 English Always wear an antistatic wrist strap connected to an ESD jack to prevent damage from electrostatic discharge. Follow these steps to install the Advanced Gateway 2330 in an equipment rack: 1. Attach a mounting bracket to each side of the router. The following table illustrates mounting bracket position options for installing the Advanced Gateway 2330 in an equipment rack. Do not use an extension cord. Advanced Gateway 2330 grounding specifications The Advanced Gateway 2330 ships with a grounding lug. You must connect your ground wire to the lug, and attach the lug to the chassis in the right-hand side of the front panel. You must attach the other end of the ground wire to the most convenient site grounding point for your installation. Use a maximum of 8 AWG grounding cable for the Advanced Gateway Important: Avaya recommends that you install the chassis in the equipment rack before you install the ground lug and the optional external interface modules. Connecting the Advanced Gateway 2330 to AC power Required cable: AC power cord that meets the requirements of your local electrical code. Refer to the following table for plug specifications. Connect the AC power cord to the front of the Advanced Gateway 2330, and then connect the cord to a power outlet. Ensure that you use the correct power cord for the router and power supply. Always set modules on appropriate antistatic material. Handle modules by the faceplate and handles. Do not touch pins or electrical connections. Do not leave interface module or power supply module slots empty. You must fill all slots with modules or slot covers to maintain safety compliance, proper cooling, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) containment in the shelf. Ensure that your environment meets the requirements for temperature, humidity, and cleanliness. Do not overtighten thumb screws or lug nuts. Tighten screws and nuts until they are snug, plus a quarter turn. If you use a power tool to tighten screws, use a low torque setting of 2 to 3 in lb (0.226 to N-m). Caution: If you do not install interface modules in slots, keep the metal cover plates in place over the slots. Ensure the PVIM slot is clear of debris. Protective tape is placed over the SO-DIMM and PVIM slots during the manufacturing process; remove this tape if it is present. 4. Holding the PVIM by its edges, insert the module in the slot on the Main Board, pushing down gently, but firmly, to fully seat the module. The release latches close when the PVIM is properly installed. Removing the Advanced Gateway 2330 internal PVIM module Use the procedure in this section to remove a PVIM module from the Advanced Gateway Prerequisites Ensure you have a Phillips #1 screwdriver. Ensure the Advanced Gateway 2330 is powered off. You cannot hot swap internal components. Ensure you have an antistatic bag or sheet available for the PVIM that you are removing. Procedure steps 1. Release the latches that secure the PVIM in the slot. There is a release latch at both ends of the PVIM slot. 4. Firmly grasp the edges of the PVIM and pull straight up to remove the PVIM from the slot. 5. If you are not installing a PVIM module at this time, replace the chassis top cover. Cable and connector protection The following practices prevent damage to cables and connectors: Use caution when connecting cables. Take care to ensure you insert each cable connector in the correct port for the purpose you intend. For example, ensure you connect LAN cables and connectors to LAN ports on the Advanced Gateway Support cables to prevent stress on the connectors. If you have a high-density cable configuration, use an appropriate cable management system to relieve stress on the cables. Also ensure that cables are threaded neatly, and that you employ cable ties as required. Do not exceed the bend radius recommended for the type of cable installed. Fiber-optic cables and connectors require special care: - Cover connectors with rubber safety plugs when they are not connected. - Before you install or replace fiber-optic cables, clean the connectors. - Do not exceed the bend radius that is recommended for fiber-optic cable. The acceptable bend radius for fiber-optic cable is ten times its diameter, or 2.5 to 5 cm (1 to 2 in.). En tenant le module PVIM par les bords, insérez le module dans la fente de la Carte mère, en le poussant doucement, mais fermement, afin d'assoire le module. 70 Français Protection des câbles et des connecteurs Les pratiques suivantes préviennent les dommages des câbles et des connecteurs : Branchez les câbles avec précaution. Veuillez vous assurer que vous insérez chaque connecteur de câble dans le port correspondant à votre objectif. Par exemple, veuillez vous assurer que vous connectez les câbles et les connecteurs LAN aux ports LAN du Advanced Gateway Soutenez les câbles pour éviter les tensions sur les connecteurs. Si vous avez de nombreux câbles, utilisez un système de gestion des câbles approprié pour éviter les tensions sur les câbles. Veillez également à ce que les câbles soient vissés de manière nette, et que vous utilisez des attaches de câbles si nécessaire. Ne dépassez pas le rayon de pliage recommandé pour le type de câble installé. Les câbles et les connecteurs en fibres optiques nécessitent une attention particulière : - Couvrez les connecteurs par des connecteurs de sécurité en caoutchouc lorsqu'ils ne sont pas connectés. - Avant d'installer ou de remplacer des câbles en fibres optiques, nettoyez les connecteurs. - Ne dépassez pas le rayon de pliage recommandé pour les câbles en fibres optiques. Le rayon de pliage acceptable pour un câble en fibres optiques est de dix fois son diamètre, soit 2.5 à 5 cm (1 à 2 in.). Si vous utilisez un rayon inférieur au rayon de pliage recommandé, il en résultera une perte d'intégrité du signal. Une perte d'intégrité du signal entraînée par un rayon de pliage incorrect est difficile à diagnostiquer.
