1 End of Year Personal Profile: Spanish 1 Your end-of-year profile will be the final project in your Spanish 1 class. It will be given to your Spanish 2 teacher so that he/she can have an idea of your Spanish skills and the quality of your work (content, grammar, punctuation, organization, and effort). Your Spanish 2 teacher will return your profile to you during the first few weeks of school. If you transfer to another school, your profile will be discarded unless you notify me by and request that I mail you the profile to your home address or that you can pick it up in the front office. Rubric Content: Grammar: Did you answer all questions in each section? (20 points) spelling, verb conjugations (subject/verb agreement), gender and number agreement, proper use of: pronouns, articles, conjunctions, possessive adjectives, adverbs/adverbial phrases, interrogatives, etc. (20 points) Punctuation: capitalization, periods, question marks, exclamation points, use of diacritic symbols (accent marks, tilde, diaeresis), etc. (20 points) Organization: coherence, continuity within and between paragraphs. (20 points) Effort: originality, creativeness, neatness, completeness, preparation. (20 points) Directions There are 8 sections in the project: introducción, cómo eres, tu familia, tus actividades favoritas, tu horario, tu clase favorita, tu mejor amigo(a), y tu lista de intereses. For each section, answer all questions in complete sentences. You can re-arrange the order if you wish. You should have a complete paragraph (5 or more sentences) when you have answered all questions within a section. Every section (paragraph) should have its own page. Arrange the paragraph as you which, choosing the font and size (point) that best suits you. You can add pictures and/or clip art, as well as borders to personalize the appearance of the page. Since the project has 8 sections, you should end up with 4 pages (front and back) or 8 pages with one-sided documents. If you prefer hand written pages (such as in a scrapbook), you may do so as long as it is neat and legible. You may place the project in either a mini binder or project folder. A cover sheet, decorated to your liking, is recommended and should include your name, period, and Spanish level class (Spanish 1, Spanish 1 MYP, etc.).

Adjectives that end in e stay the same for both genders: María: Yo soy alta, rubia y paciente. José: Yo soy alto, rubio y paciente. Describe tus ojos y tu pelo (largo, corto, color, etc.)

Use frequency adverbs to say how often you do your favorite and least favorite activities (page 107): todos los días, siempre, nunca, de vez en cuando, mucho, poco, rara vez. Qué haces después de la escuela? Qué haces los fines de semana? Qué te gusta hacer con tus amigos(as)? Qué te gusta hacer con tu familia?

4 Tu horario Primero forma una tabla de tu horario de clases (see page 104 for school subjects). 5 Tu clase favorita (one paragraph) Cuál es tu clase favorita? Por qué es tu clase favorita? Cómo se llama el maestro (la maestra)? Describe la clase: qué hay en la clase? (7-10 classroom nouns) see page 117. Narra un día típico en la clase: Use sequence words (page 150) primero, luego, después, entonces, antes de, por fin. Use helpful verbs such as usar, preparar, contestar, estudiar, escribir, leer, hablar, pasar, escuchar, ayudar, sacar, necesitar, enseñar, esperar, terminar, asistir, hacer etc. (see pages 117, 163). Use frequency adverbs to say how often you do something (page 107): todos los días, siempre, nunca, de vez en cuando, mucho, poco, rara vez. Use relevant adjectives: interesante, inteligente, paciente, aburrido(a), cómico(a), divertido(a), bueno(a), trabajador(a) (see page 67). When describing the class or a female teacher, make sure your adjectives end in a, unless they end in e. La clase es interesante. La clase es aburrida La maestra es interesante. La maestra es aburrida. But if you are describing a male teacher: El maestro es interesante. El maestro es aburrido.
