Let s start! Welcome back! What do you know about...? Test your knowledge on compound tenses: present perfect and past perfect. 69
Your challenge is Demonstrating what you know Presente Perfecto. 1. Presente Perfecto. Escribe la forma correcta de cada verbo en paréntesis: 70 a) A: Did you like the movie Star Wars? B: I don t know. I (see, never) that movie. b) Sam (arrive) in San Diego a week ago.
Semana 1 c) My best friend and I (know) each other for over fifteen years. d) Stinson is a fantastic writer. He (write) ten very creative short stories in the last year. e) I (have, not) this much fun since I was a kid. f) Sam is from Colorado, which is hundreds of miles from the coast, so he (see, never) the ocean. 2. Pasado Perfecto. Escribe la forma correcta de cada verbo en paréntesis: a) Last summer my parents went to London; they (To be, never) there before. b) When the police arrived the terrorist just (kill) one hostage (acababa de suceder). c) When my mother phoned me yesterday night I just(go) to bed (justo poco antes de la llamada). d) I arrived very late at the party and my friends just (leave) (acababan de marcharse). e) When the bomb exploded the police (evacuate, already) the building. f) When the helicopter finally arrived the oil tanker (sink). 3. Tabla 1. Formas pasadas de los verbos Verb Past form Past participle Verb Past form Past participle Be Read Drink Put Sing Have Drive See Run Go Come Steal Write Break Speak Bring Do Buy 71
4. Vamos a revisar la gramática. Tabla 2. Presente Perfecto. Estructura: [has/have + past participle] Affirmative sentence Negative sentence Question I have done an he, she, it: I have not done an Have I done an exercise? He has done an He has not done an Has he done an exercise? Ejemplos: You have seen that movie many times. Have you seen that movie many times? You have not seen that movie many times. Tabla 3. Pasado perfecto. Estructura: [had + past participle] Affirmative sentence Negative sentence Question I had finished. You had finished. We had finished. They had finished. He had finished. She had finished. It had finished. I had not finished. You had not finished. We had not finished. They had not finished. He had not finished. She had not finished. It had not finished. Had I finished? Had you finished? Had we finished? Had they finished? Had he finished? Had she finished? Had it finished? Mira estos ejemplos: Mary has always been late to class. You have only chosen white flowers. I have never seen him before. 72
Semana 1 5. 1. Past and past participles. Responde las preguntas a continuación: - Which past / past participle form is wrong? bite bit bited bitten - These verbs have the same sound in the past, but which has a different spelling? teach buy think bring 73

Por ejemplo: Her plane had already left when Thelma arrived at the airport.
