Lesson must - have to must Tanto must como have to expresan necesidad y obligación. 1. > I must exercise more and eat less, I m getting fat. > Tomorrow is my girlfriend s birthday, I must buy her a present. > I must go now, otherwise I will miss the bus to return home. 2. > Sit down and rest, you must be very tired after such a long journey. > It must be nice to spend the whole winter in Florida. > You must be starving, you haven t eaten the whole day. 3. Para dar directivas o instrucciones > Before the plane takes off, passengers must turn off all cell phones and other electronic devices. 4. Para poner en evidencia la autoridad del hablante > Father speaking to his son: - You can go out, but you must be home before Para expresar una fuerte recomendación > When you go to Rome, you must visit the Fontana di Trevi.
Lesson have to 1. Have to expresa una obligación externa (impuesta por otros). > I have to buy some flowers for my mother-in-law s birthday. > My doctor says that I have to stop drinking alcohol, to prevent liver disease. (No es mi decisión, yo habría querido continuar bebiendo.) 2. Con los adverbios de frecuencia como: always, often, sometimes, never, etc., normalmente se usa have to en vez de must. > I sometimes have to work on weekends. Nota > My doctor says that I have to stop drinking alcohol. Nota o también My doctor says that I have got to stop drinking alcohol. Have got to se usa en discursos informales. Have to es más formal. must not y don t have to tienen diferentes significados. > You mustn t tell Barbra about the party. (No debes decírselo...) You don t have to tell Barbra about the party. (No hace falta que se lo digas...)
Lesson Present Simple = presente simple I must = yo tengo que / debo you must = tú tienes que he must = él tiene que we must you must they must Forma Interrogativa Forma Negativa Forma Contracta must I? I must not I mustn t must you? you must not you mustn t must he? he must not he mustn t must we? we must not we mustn t must you? you must not you mustn t must they? they must not they mustn t Observa 1. He must study more. 2. Must I study more? 3. You must not work so much. 4. Must va seguido de infinitivo sin to. You must get up earlier. (You must to get up ) Error!
Lesson must 1. Must tiene solamente el Present Simple. > I must eat less, I am getting fat. (Tengo que comer menos, estoy engordando). 2. El Past Simple de must es had to. > Yesterday I had to work from 8am to 9pm. > Spending a holiday in Acapulco must have been a nice experience. > If you want to pass your exam, you should/ought to study more. El Future es generalmente will have to. > If you want to pass your exam, you will have to study more.
Lesson must - have to > We have to get petrol tomorrow morning. We must get petrol tomorrow morning. > I will have to get petrol tomorrow morning if we want to go to Boston. > I would have to/should get petrol tomorrow morning if we want to go to Boston.
