7 Contractions Singular, masculine, definite article el with a and de, form contractions. de + el= del (of the) a + el = al (to the) *If the el is part of a proper name then no contraction is formed. Ex. Voy a El Salvador.
8 Contractions Prepositional pronouns mí (me) and ti (you) with con, form contractions. Con + mí= conmigo (with me) Con + ti= contigo (with you) Other prepositional pronouns correspond to the personal pronouns and look like this: con él, con ella, con nosotros, con vosotros, con usted, con ustedes.
9 Describing location To describe the location of places use either the verb ESTAR or QUEDAR plus the preposition EN. La cafetería está en el edificio diez. The café is in building ten. El campus queda en la calle treinta. The campus is on 30th street.
10 Describing relative location To describe the location of places in relation to other places or cardinal points use ESTAR or QUEDAR and/or HACIA, EN. El campus está/queda hacia el norte de la ciudad. The campus is toward the north of the city. El campus está/queda en el norte de la ciudad. The campus is in the north of the city.
