1 Positive, Comparative and superlative patterns Patrones a seguir al estructurar operaciones positivas, comparativas y superlativas The positive: As and so 1. Usamos as as (tan como) en una oración positiva para decir que las cosas son iguales. (Eastwood 1992 p. 208) por Blanca Rosa González 1. We use as as in a positive sentence to say that things are equal: (Eastwood 1992 p. 208) Usamos estas palabras al comunicar analogías, algo que es tan como al hacer oraciones en grado positivo cuando el adjetivo no tiene ningún cambio. POSITIVE: The lemonade is as fresh as the orange juice. La limonada esta tan fresca como el jugo de naranja. POSITIVE: Figura 1. Lemonade. Figura 2. Jugo de naranja Fludkov, M. (2008). Pampa, W. Forma comparativa: usando pronombres personales o los objetos del pronombre The comparative: using object pronouns or personal prononouns 7
8 En muchas ocasiones hacemos comparaciones entre personas, en esos casos puedes referirte a las personas de las siguientes dos formas: Los Object pronouns corresponden a cada pronombre personal que tu ya conoces. Los objetos del pronombre remplazan los objetos. Object Pronouns: these pronouns replace objects (Purde OWL engagement) Object pronouns me you him her it us them I You He She It We They Después de comparar con than (tan ) un pronombre personal por si mismo tiene (toma) la forma del objeto. After than a personal pronoun on its own has the object form. (Eastwood J p. 208) A Object pronouns Personal B pronouns + verb than me than yours than him than her than it than us than them than I than you than he than she than it than we than they + verb Al hacer comparaciones entre personas puedes utilizar la opción A los objetos del pronombre, que es más sencilla.
Verbo principal A Present simple sentences You are taller than me. Tú eres más alto que yo. Verbo principal B Present simple sentences than + Personal pronoun + verb to be You are taller than I am. Tú eres más alto de lo que yo soy. The children are noisier than he is. Los niños son más ruidosos de lo que él es. The children are noisier than him. Los niños son más ruidosos que él. A Past simple sentences Verbo principal I slept later than her. Yo dormí más tarde que ella. Verbo principal She sang louder than him. Ella canto más fuerte que él. B Past simple sentences Than + Personal auxiliary pronoun + verb: did I slept later than she did. Yo dormí más tarde que ella. She sang louder than he did. Ella canto más fuerte de lo que él lo hizo. 9
