1 Installation instructions for part AX-ADGM04 REV. 10/6/2015 INSTAX-ADGM04 AX-ADGM04 GM 44-way LAN-Data 2013-up The AX-ADGM04 is designed to and MUST be used with the AX-ADBOX1 or AX- ADBOX2 (sold separately). Please refer to AX-ADBOX1 or AX-ADBOX2 for 16-pin connector instructions. APPLICATIONS CHEVROLET Malibu (with single color, monochrome screen) Trax INTERFACE COMPONENTS AX-ADGM04 harness 4-pin to 4-pin resistor pad harness TOOLS REQUIRED Cutting tool Tape Crimping tool Connectors (i.e. butt-connectors, bell caps, etc.) 2013-up 2015-up Caution: Metra recommends disconnecting the negative battery terminal before beginning any installation. All accessories, switches, and especially air bag indicator lights must be plugged in before reconnecting the battery or cycling the ignition. *Note: Refer also to the instructions included with the aftermarket radio. CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE From the 16-pin harness with stripped leads to the aftermarket radio Connect the (2) Red wires to the accessory wire. Note: If using the optional ASWC-1 or AX-LCD, there will be an accessory wire there to connect as well. Connect the Orange/White wire to the illumination wire (if the aftermarket radio has no illumination wire, tape off the Orange/White wire). Connect the Blue/White wire to the amp turn on wire (this wire must be connected to hear sound from the factory amplifier). Connect the Brown wire to the mute wire of the aftermarket radio. If the radio has no mute wire, tape it off and disregard it. Connect the White wire to the left front positive speaker output. Connect the White/Black wire to the left front negative speaker output. Connect the Gray wire to the right front positive speaker output. Connect the Gray/Black wire to the right front negative speaker output. Tape off and disregard the following wires, they will not be used in this application: Green, Green/Black, Purple, and Purple/Black wires. From the AX-ADGM04 harness to the aftermarket radio Connect the Black wire to the ground wire. 2 AX-ADGM04 Connections to be made Connect the Yellow wire to the 12-volt battery wire. Tape off and disregard the Pink wire, it will not be used in this application. The Black/Yellow wire will be discussed in the OnStar Level Adjustment section. Connect the RCA s to the audio AUX in on the aftermarket radio (if equipped). Note: This will allow you to retain the 3.5 AUX JACK in the console. (a) Amplified vehicles Connect the Violet wire to the right rear positive wire. Connect the Violet/Black wire to the right rear negative wire. Connect the Green wire to the left rear positive wire. Connect the Green/Black wire to the left rear negative wire. Disconnect the 4-pin harness located between the 44-way and 22-way connector and connect the supplied 4-pin to 4-pin resistor pad harness. (b) Non-amplified vehicles Cut the resistors off from the Green, Green/Black, Purple, Purple/Black wires right below the heat shrink. Connect the Violet wire to the right rear positive wire. Connect the Violet/Black wire to the right rear negative wire. Connect the Green wire to the left rear positive wire. Connect the Green/Black wire to the left rear negative wire. Note: The 4-pin to 4-pin resistor pad harness will not be used in this application. DIN cable The DIN cable is to be used with the optional AX-LCD (sold separately). Connect the Red wire to the accessory wire. 12-pin pre-wired ASWC-1 harness This harness is to be used in conjunction with the optional ASWC-1 (not included) to retain steering wheel controls. If the ASWC-1 is not being used, disregard this harness. If it will be used, please refer to the ASWC-1 instructions for radio connections and programming. Note: Disregard the harness that comes with the ASWC-1. Connect the Red wire to the accessory wire. Note: The relay attached to the AX-ADGM04 harness is only for audible turn signal clicks. No extra steps are required to retain this feature, so leave the relay as-is. Installing the AX-ADGM04 With the key in the off position Connect the 16-pin harness with stripped leads into the interface. Connect the AX-ADGM04 harness into the interface. Connect the AX-ADGM04 harness into the vehicle. With all connections completed, reconnect the negative battery terminal. 2

3 AX-ADGM04 Initializing the AX-ADGM04 Initialization Initialize the interface by turning the ignition on for 30 seconds, then turn the ignition back off, then back on again. Note: If using the ASWC-1, connect it after you initialize the AX-ADGM04, with the key in the off position. Adjusting the AX-ADGM04 Chime level adjustment With the vehicle on, turn it off and leave the keys in ignition. Open the driver s door; chimes will be heard. Wait 10 seconds, and then with a small screwdriver, turn the potentiometer clockwise to raise the chime level; counterclockwise to lower the chime level. When the chime is at a desired level, remove the keys from the ignition. This will lock the chime volume at its current level. OnStar level adjustment Press the OnStar button to activate it. While OnStar is speaking, press the Volume up or Volume down buttons on the steering wheel to raise or lower the OnStar level. If the vehicle does not come equipped with steering wheel controls, find the Black/Yellow wire on the 22-pin harness. While OnStar is speaking, tap the Black/Yellow wire to ground. Once the OnStar level is set, it will stay at that level until the Black/Yellow wire is tapped to ground again. Extra features Vehicle customization with optional AX-LCD (sold separately) The OEM radio had the ability to customize certain features of the vehicle. Without the OEM radio, these features are lost. Using the AX-LCD will allow you to retain these features. 1. Press the ESC button; Press Enter to Set Language will appear on the screen. 2. To change the Language press the Enter button and then press the Up and Down buttons to change the Language. 3. Once you have chosen the desired language, press ESC to go back to the main screen to scroll through the other settings. 4. If you do not wish to change the Language, you can scroll up and down through the different settings with the Up and Down buttons. 5. Remember to press Enter to change the desired setting. 3

Meta recomienda desconectar la terminal negativa de la batería antes de iniciar cualquier instalación, a menos que el fabricante del vehículo recomiende lo contrario. Verifique con su concesionario local si existe más información. Todos los accesorios, interruptores, paneles de controles de clima y especialmente las luces del indicador de las bolsas de aire deben estar conectados antes de reconectar la batería o ciclar la ignición. Además, no quite el radio de fábrica con la llave en la posición de encendido ni con el vehículo funcionando. CONEXIONES QUE SE DEBEN HACER Del arnés de 16 pins con conectores pelados al radio de mercado secundario: Conecte los (2) cables rojos al cable de accesorios. Nota: Si se utiliza el opcional ASWC-1 o AX-LCD, habrá un cable accesorio allí para conectar así. Conecte el cable anaranjado/blanco con el cable de iluminación. (Si el radio de mercado secundario no tiene cable de iluminación, cubra con cinta este cable e ignórelo). Conecte el cable azul/blanco con el cable de encendido del amplificador. (Este cable debe estar conectado para escuchar sonido del amplificador de fábrica). Conecte el cable marrón con el cable de silencio del radio de mercado secundario. Si el radio no tiene cable de silencio, encíntelo e ignórelo Conecte el cable blanco con la salida positiva de la bocina izquierda delantera. Conecte el cable blanco/negro con la salida negativa de la bocina izquierda delantera. Conecte el cable gris con la salida positiva de la bocina derecha delantera. Conecte el cable gris/negro con la salida negativa de la bocina derecha delantera. Encinte e ignore el siguiente cables, no van a ser utilizados en esta solicitud: Los cables verde, verde/negro, púrpura, y púrpura/negro/black. Desde el arnés AX-ADGM04 al radio de mercado secundario: Conecte el cable negro al cable de tierra. 6 AX-ADGM04 Conexiones que se deben hacer Conecte el cable amarillo al cable de la batería de 12 voltios. Encinte e ignore el cable rosa, no se utilizarán en esta aplicación. El cable negro/amarillo se discutirá en la sección OnStar Nivel de ajuste. Conecte el RCA de el audio AUX en la radio de mercado secundario (si está equipado). Nota: Esto le permitirá conservar el 3.5 AUX JACK en la consola. (a) Vehículos con amplificador Conecte el cable violeta con el cable positivo trasero derecho. Conecte el cable violeta/negro con el cable negativo trasero derecho. Conecte el cable verde con el cable positivo trasero izquierdo. Conecte el cable verde/negro con el cable negativo trasero izquierdo. Desconecte el arnés de 4 pins localizado entre los conectores de 44 camino y 22 camino y conecte el arnés de cojinete de resistencia 4 pins a 4 pins suministrado. (b) Vehículos no amplificados Corte las resistencias de los cables verde, verde/negro, púrpura y púrpura/negro debajo del termoencogimiento. Conecte el cable violeta con el cable positivo trasero derecho. Conecte el cable violeta/negro con el cable negativo trasero derecho. Conecte el cable verde con el cable positivo trasero izquierdo. Conecte el cable verde/negro con el cable negativo trasero izquierdo. Nota: El arnés del cojinete de resistencia de 4 pins a 4 pins no se usará en esta aplicación. DIN cable El cable DIN se va a utilizar con el AX-LCD opcional (se vende por separado). Conecte el cable rojo con el cable de accesorios. Arnés ASWC-1 precableado de 12 pins Este arnés se debe usar junto con el ASWC-1 opcional (no incluido) para retener los controles en el volante. Si no se va a usar el ASWC-1, ignore este arnés. Si se va a utilizar, consulte las instrucciones de ASWC-1 para las conexiones del radio y la programación. Nota: Ignore el arnés que viene con el ASWC-1. Conecte el cable rojo con el cable de accesorios. Nota: El relé adjunto a la AX-ADGM04 arnés únicamente es para los chasquidos audibles de la señal direccional. No se requieren pasos adicionales para retener esta característica, así que deje el relé como está. Instalación del AX-ADGM04 Con la llave en la posición de apagado Conecte el arnés de 16 pins con conectores pelados a la interfase. Conecte el arnés AX-ADGM04 a la interfase. Conecte el arnés AX-ADGM04 al vehículo. Cuanto termine todas las conexiones, vuelva a conectar la terminal negativa de la batería. 2

7 AX-ADGM04 Inicialización del AX-ADGM04 Inicialización Para inicializar la interfase, encienda la marcha y espere 30 segundos, luego vuelva a apagar la ignición, y enciéndala una vez más. Nota: Si va a utilizar el ASWC-1, conéctelo después de inicializar el AX-ADGM04 con la llave en la posición de apagado. Ajuste del AX-ADGM04 Ajuste del nivel de tonos Con el vehículo encendido, apáguelo y deje las llaves en la ignición. Abra la puerta del conductor, se escucharán los tonos. Espere 10 segundos, y después con un pequeño destornillador, gire el potenciómetro hacia la derecha para subir el nivel de los tonos y hacia la izquierda para bajar el nivel de los tonos. Cuando el volumen esté en el nivel deseado, retire las llaves de la ignición. Esto bloqueará el volumen de los tonos en su nivel actual. Ajuste del nivel de OnStar Presione el botón OnStar para activarlo. Mientras OnStar está hablando, presione los botones de Subir volumen o Bajar volumen del volante para aumentar o bajar el nivel de OnStar. Si el vehículo no está equipado con controles en el volante, encuentre el cable negro/amarillo del arnés de 22 pins. Mientras OnStar está hablando, toque el cable negro/amarillo a tierra. Una vez que el nivel de OnStar esté ajustado se quedará en ese nivel hasta que el cable negro/amarillo se toque a tierra de nuevo. Características adicionales Personalización de vehículos con opción de AX-LCD (se vende por separado) La radio OEM tenía la posibilidad de personalizar ciertas características del vehículo. Sin la radio OEM, estas características se pierden. Utilizando el AX-LCD le permitirá conservar estas características. 1. Pulse el botón ESC ; Pulse Intro para Set Language aparecerá en la pantalla. 2. Para cambiar la prensa Idioma en el botón Enter y luego presione el botón Down Up y cambiar el Idioma. 3. Una vez que haya elegido el idioma deseado, pulse la tecla ESC para volver a la pantalla principal para desplazarse por los demás ajustes. 4. Si no desea cambiar el Idioma, puede desplazarse hacia arriba y hacia abajo a través de los diferentes ajustes con los botones Down y Up. 5. Recuerde presionar Enter para cambiar el ajuste deseado. 3
