Contenidos Debo saber Para desarrollar esta guía de mejor manera, es necesario que el estudiante logre reconocer el número de sílabas en un adjetivo: -Una sílaba (tall, sad, big, fat, etc ) -Dos sílabas (simple, happy, busy, tilted, etc ) -Tres sílabas o más (important, expensive, etc ) Superlative Adjectives/Adjetivos Superlativos Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object, which is at the upper or lower limit of a quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the highest). They are used in sentences where a subject is compared to a group of objects. -The old ship was the biggest on the entire sea. -Barry Allen, The Flash, is known as the fastest man alive. -A typical flu is the most common illness and the least serious one. According to the number of syllables on the adjective in between the nouns, the form of the adjective could change. For example: A) If we use One Syllable word (Adjective): -We add est to the adjective: Nice Nicest Fast Fastest Primera Edición

2 Long Longest Short Shortest -If the adjective has a consonant + single vowel + consonant spelling, the final consonant must be doubled before adding the ending: Big Biggest Red Reddest Fat Fattest B) If we use Two Syllables word (Adjective): -In case of adjectives with two syllables, these can form the superlative either by adding est or by preceeding the adjective with most or least. Now, in many cases, both forms are used, although one usage could be more common than the other could: Busy Busiest Happy Happier Peaceful Least/Most Peaceful Thoughtful Least/Most Thoughtful *(For adjectives ending in y, change the y to an I before adding the ending). 3 C) If we use Three Syllables word (Adjective) or more: If the adjective has three or more syllables, it will form the superlative by putting most in front: Beautiful Least/Most Beautiful Dangerous Least/Most Dangerous Annoying Least/Most Annoying D) By the way, there is some exceptions to the rule: Ill Least/Most Ill Wrong Least/Most Wrong Real Least/Most Real E) And irregular ones: Bad Worst Good Best Much Most Little Least Far Furthest/Farthest Primera Edición
