2 PÁGINA: 2 de 6 CONCEPTUALIZACIÓN THE COMPARATIVE Es la forma de un adjetivo o adverbio, la cual es usada para mostrar comparacion entre dos cosas. En ingles el comparativo es formado con el sufijo er o con la palabra more. THE USE OF -er (más) Se utiliza er para los comparativos que tienen adjetivos y adverbios cortos. Example: -Cheap / barato-a -cheaper/ más barato a -hard / duro y dificil -harder/ más duro -thin / delgado-a -thinner/ más delgado -a -loig / grande -bigger/ más grande Entoces podemos mencionar que -er significa (más) The use of more (más) Se utiliza more, para los adjetivos que tienen dos 2 o más sílabas. Example: Expensive/caro- costoso Moderm/ moderno Beautiful/ hermoso a Polite/ formal cortes More expensive/ más caro More moderm/ más moderno More beautiful/ más hermoso a More polite/ más formal. The use of than (que) la palabra than es usada para mostrar comparacion entre dos cosas. Quiere decir que todos los adjetivos comparativos tienen que ir acompañados de la palabra than si la oración continúa. Example: My dog is bigger than your dog. (Mi perro es más grande que tu perro.) My brother is taller than your brother`s son. (Mi hermano es más grande que el hijo de su hermano.) It`s cheaper to go by car than to go by train. (Es más barato ir en carro que ir en tren.) RULES Estas reglas te perciten el correcto de la ortografia Para adjetivos que terminan en y por una consonante, se omite la y y se agrega ier. Example: Easy easier más fácil Happy happier más feliz Funny funnier más chistoso /gracioso Lucky luckier más afortunado Pretty prettier más bonito Los adjetivos que terminan en una consonante antecedida de una vocal doblan la consonante y agregan er. Example: Big bigger más grande Hot hotter más caliente Thin thinner más delgado

3 PÁGINA: 3 de 6 Cuando un adjetivo termina en dos vocales y una consonante, sólo se le agrega er. Example: Cool cooler más frío Cuando un adjetivo termina en e se le agrega tan solo la r. Example: Wide wider más amplio Late later más tarde Irregular adjetives: Hay adjetivos que son irregularres, por lo tanto es muy importante que sepas esta información. -Good bueno - better mejor -bad malo - worse peor -far lejos - further/ farther más lejos /distante -little poco -less menos Exercise Write the comparatives. Si no conoces el significado de las palabras, no dudes en consultar en diccionarrio. La caja C es la más grande de todas las cajas. La palabra Más indica lo maximo en cualidad, cantidad o intensidad de un grupo de tres o más personas Un superlativo empieza en la oracion con la palabra The. En el idioma inglés se demuestra el superlativo con el sufijo est o con la frase the most el más, la más, etc. Para los adjetivos y adverbios cortos se utilizan la terminacion est. old the oldest el más viejo cheap the cheapest el más barato large the largest el más largo tall the tallest el más alto big the biggest el más grande La terminacion est significa el más, la más en cuanto a cualidad o intension. - The box D is the smallest box. Rules Peter is the tallest student in the class. Pedro es el estudiante más alto en la clase. Para adjetivos que terminan en Y pero antecedida de una consonante, se omite la Y (griega) y se agrega iest. Easy the easiest Happy the happiest Funny the funniest Pretty the prettiest Heavy the heaviest No te olvdes de colocar the con la superlativo. Para adjetivos que terminan en una consonante pero antecedida de una vocal se dobla la consonante y se agrega est. Big the biggest Hot the hottest Cuando un adjetivo termina en dos vocales solo se aumenta la terminacion est. Cool the coolest Cuando el adjetivo termina en e solo se agrega st. Wide Wise the widest the wisest Adjetivos que son irregulares good the best lo mejor bad the worst lo peor far the farthest lo más distante - Keny s a good player, but he is not the best in the team. (Keny es un buen jugador, pero él no es el mejor del equipo). - The film was very bad.i think it was the worst film. (la pelicula estuvo muy mala, creo que fue la peor película).
