Use safe lifting techniques and a reasonable number of people with enough strength to lift, carry and install window and door products to avoid injury and/or product damage. 2 1 2 Active Door Mortise Lock Passive Passive Open active door panel. 3 Exterior Unlock astragal mortise lock and open passive panel. Weight of window/door unit(s) and accessories will vary. Use a reasonable number of people with sufficient strength to lift, carry, and install window and door unit(s) and accessories. Always use appropriate lifting techniques. Passive Door Active Door Support passive panel before removing panel hinge screws. 4 5 Hinge Cup Shims Remove four (4) #12 x 1 1/2" screws from each hinge on panel and save for reuse. Place panel upright against a stable surface. Note position and quantity of shims in hinge routes. Remove hinge cups and shims from each hinge route and save for reuse. 2

3 6 7 Side Up Utility Knife Foam Corner Pad Door Needle Nose Note position and location of top and bottom foam corner pads on face of astragal. Carefully remove foam corner pads and save for reuse. Outswing doors have corner pad at bottom only. Place the panel interior side up on a flat, clean, dry surface. Break varnish or paint seal by scoring between panel and astragal with utility knife. 8 9 Top interior corner of panel shown Screws Shoot-Bolt Guide Weatherstrip Pull weatherstrip back and remove shoot bolt guide on bottom of panel. Repeat for shoot bolt guide at top of panel. Save shoot bolt guides and screws for reuse. Remove astragal screws, full length, and save for reuse Bottom Note sizes and locations of top and bottom shoot bolts. Unscrew top and bottom shoot bolts from astragal mortise lock using pliers. Remove top and bottom shoot bolts and save for reuse. Remove astragal. 3

4 12 13 Mortise Lock Mortise Lock Lever Remove astragal mortise lock. Note position of lock lever. Save screws for reuse and dispose of mortise lock properly. Position new mortise lock lever to noted position and insert mortise lock into astragal. Fasten using saved screws. Reapply top and bottom shoot bolts into astragal mortise lock at noted locations Guide Weatherstrip Kerf Screws Weatherstrip Position astragal to panel, flush with panel ends, and fasten using saved screws. Reapply top and bottom shoot bolt guides. Reapply weatherstrip to weatherstrip kerf If replacing an outswing panel, apply a light coat of sealant to all hinge routes on panel before reapplying hinge cups. Foam Corner Pad Reapply top and bottom corner foam pad(s) in locations noted previously. Position hinge cups and shims in hinge routs on panel at locations noted previously. Hold shims in place with a dab of sealant. 4

5 18 19 Position and support panel in opening and fasten using saved screws. Passive Close passive door panel. Lock door panel by activating astragal mortise lock lever to the lock position. 20 Passive Active Door Close and lock active door panel.
