Hence we each have one of the six possible combinations: ε2/ε2, ε2/ε3, ε3/ε3, ε2/ε4, ε3/ε4 or ε4/ε4. 25 APOE - Conclusiones La herencia de un alelo e4 aumenta el riesgo 3-4 veces con respecto al genotipo e3/e3 y la herencia de dos alelos e4 aumenta el riesgo unas 15 veces. A la hora de interpretar el resultado deben tenerse en cuenta los siguientes aspectos: Este informe no cubre otras posibles variantes genéticas asociadas a la enfermedad, ni aporta información sobre formas familiares de la enfermedad de Alzheimer. La variante e4 del gen APOE es relativamente común. Dependiendo del origen étnico, aproximadamente entre el 15-40% de las personas llevan una copia de la variante e4 que confiere un mayor riesgo a sufrir la enfermedad de Alzheimer. El hecho de portar un alelo e4 no significa que una persona tenga o vaya a desarrollar la enfermedad de Alzheimer. El no portar el alelo e4 no es una garantía (no significa inmunidad) de que no se vaya a desarrollar la enfermedad en el futuro. El riesgo conferido por el alelo e4 es dependiente de edad Además de la presencia de un alelo e4 del gen APOE, otros factores pueden influenciar el riesgo total de desarrollar esta enfermedad, incluyendo la historia familiar y origen étnico, estilos de vida y factores ambientales.
