1 Male Organ Function and Spinal Cord Injury: 3 Types of Problems As many readers know, male organ health can be a bit complicated. Some of it is easy and directly involves the male organ, such as caring for dry male organ skin or checking for signs of partner-transmitted infections. Other times, male organ care may relate to parts of the body beyond the organ itself. Such is the case with spinal cord injuries, which have the potential to impact male organ health, sometimes significantly. The spinal cord The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular bundle of nervous tissue and support cells that extends from the medulla oblongata in the brainstem to the lumbar region of the vertebral column. The brain and spinal cord together make up the central nervous system (CNS). Its primary function is the transmission of nerve signals throughout the body, as well as helping to coordinate the body s reflexes. Treatments Spinal cord injuries can be very serious and affect many parts of the body. Treatments for reproductive issues related to spinal cord injury vary in their effectiveness, depending upon the specifics of the injury. However, here are some of the typical treatment options: Oral medication, which is frequently used in treating reproductive dysfunction in men. In men with spinal cord injuries, there is a good success rate. Injections. Some men respond to having medication injected directly into the member in order to achieve tumescence. Vacuum pumps. These devices fit snugly around the member and then create a vacuum, which draws blood into the organ. Implants.
