4 Our Lord Jesus Christ the King Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo ARE YOU OR AREN T YOU? Few things are as frustrating as not getting a yes or no when we have posed a yes or no question. Putting ourselves in Pilate s place today, we can feel his frustration in the debate with Jesus about his kingship and the source of his kingdom. Pilate was a potent and wily Roman authority; he lived by one of the primary lessons of staying in power: know exactly who your opponent is. It is doubtful that the person of Jesus of Nazareth posed much of a threat to Pilate, but what he represented as the social and religious force with which he seemed to be connected very clearly could have been. So Pilate naturally wanted to know who was standing before him, a king or not, and if so, what kind of king? Pilate wanted to know what to get ready for when dealing with this man. We would do well to make Pilate our role model in this regard. ERES O NO ERES? Pocas cosas son tan frustrantes como no obtener un sí o un no como respuesta cuando hacemos una pregunta. Al ponernos hoy en el lugar de Pilato, podemos sentir su frustración cuando pregunta a Jesús acerca de su realeza y del origen de su reino. Pilato era un poderoso y astuto dirigente romano; su vida se basaba en la lección elemental de mantenerse en el poder: saber exactamente quién es tu enemigo. Es improbable que una persona como Jesús de Nazaret representara una amenaza para Pilato, pero esa probabilidad surgía en el hecho de que Jesús podría estar conectado con la fuerza religiosa y social que aparentemente representaba. Naturalmente, Pilato quería saber con quién estaba lidiando, un rey o no, y si lo era, qué clase de rey? Pilato quería saber lo que debía dejar listo cuando lidiara con este hombre. Haríamos bien en poner a Pilato como nuestro modelo en este aspecto. IS IT OR ISN T IT? As J esus r ightly tells Pilate, his kingdom is not of this world. It isn t. But Christians believe that, in Jesus Christ, his kingdom has broken into the world, and continues to be made manifest in the world until the final day of his glorious return. A very early Christian term, autobasilea, was used to say that Jesus was the kingdom-in-himself on earth. As we, the Church, celebrate this feast of Christ our King, we recall our own mission through baptism to be Christ s-kingdom-in-ourselves and to do our own part to continue introducing his reign wherever it is not yet a part of this world. A look back at our whole Church year from this final Sunday will show us that this reign in Christ is one of love, of proclaiming salvation, of healing, of forgiving and reconciling, of humble service, of self giving. We pray Your kingdom come because it isn t completely here yet, which is why we likewise pray Your will be done so that it might be. ES O NO ES? Como dice J esús cor r ectamente a Pilato, su Reino no es de este mundo. No lo es. Pero los cristianos creen que, en Jesucristo, su Reino se ha mostrado al mundo y continúa manifestándose hasta el día final en su regreso glorioso. Un término de los primeros cristianos, autobasilea, se usaba para decir que Jesús era el reino en persona en la tierra. Al celebrar como Iglesia la fiesta de Cristo Rey, recordemos nuestra misión mediante el bautismo de ser el Reino de Cristo en persona y poner de nuestra parte para continuar presentando el Reino de Dios al mundo, en donde todavía no se le conozca. Una mirada atrás a todo el año de la Iglesia desde este domingo final nos mostrará que este Reino en Cristo es uno de amor, de proclamación de salvación, de sanación, de perdón y reconciliación, de servicio humilde, de darse a sí mismo. Oramos, venga a nosotros tu Reino, porque ese Reino todavía no está totalmente aquí y, por esa razón, también decimos hágase tu voluntad para que así sea. When a Sanctuary Candle is memorialized, the weekly bulletin will read: "The Sanctuary Lamp which burns near the Tabernacle in the Church will burn in memory of : and is requested by:." You may make the offering in honor of, in memory of, a friend or a loved one. MASS FACTS : The Mass : Structure and meaning (Source USCCB) The Offering The next part of the prayer is the offering. In this part of the prayer, the priest joins the offering of this Mass to the perfect sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. The priest offers this sacrifice back to God the Father in thanksgiving for God's abundant gifts, particularly the gift of salvation in Christ. The priest also prays that the Holy Spirit may come upon the faithful and by receiving the body and blood of Christ, they themselves may become a living offering to God HOLY HOUR FOR REPARATION Everyone is invited to a Holy Hour of Reparation, the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM in the Church. Followed with the Blessing of the Blessed Sacrament Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament Come and spend some time worshiping Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist! It is a privilege for us to be able to adore the Lord in our Church. The Eucharist is exposed every Thursday from 9:30am - 7:30PM and kept on the Altar until ending with Benediction Lámpara del Santuario en la Iglesia - La lámpara arde durante 1 semana con su donación de $ y se puede ofrecer al detener la oficina parroquial. En esta parte de la oración, el sacerdote se une a la ofrenda de esta misa al sacrificio perfecto que Jesús hizo en la cruz. El sacerdote ofrece este sacrificio a Dios Padre en acción de gracias por los abundantes dones de Dios, particularmente el don de la salvación en Cristo. El sacerdote también ora para que el Espíritu Santo pueda venir sobre los fieles y al recibir el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo, ellos mismos pueden convertirse en una ofrenda viva a Dios.
