3 The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph December 27, 2020 Message from Father Robert: Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thess. 5:16-18). I used this quote for the Thanksgiving bulletin, and little to my surprise this quote would be in the Second Reading this year for the Third Sunday of Advent. Now in the Christmas Season, we continue to reflect upon those words of St. Paul, especially as we come to the close I can only image that for many people this has been an extremely difficult year marked with sorrow upon sorrow. Yet, we still give thanks to God for the blessings (even if we consider them small ones) He has bestowed upon us this past year. This is more than seeing the good in the bad because with the gift our faith we hope in God, and trust in His Divine Providence since through the birth of His Son we have been given a Savior in whom we have life in abundance. It is a custom to pray a hymn known as the Te Deum on New Year s Eve which is a hymn of thanksgiving so as to gain a plenary indulgence. As an added bonus Pope Francis has dedicated 2021 to St. Joseph. Through his intercession may we have a blessed 2021, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Te Deum: You are God: we praise you; You are the Lord; we acclaim you; You are the eternal Father: All creation worships you. To you all angels, all the powers of heaven, Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. The glorious company of apostles praise you. The noble fellowship of prophets praise you. The white-robed army of martyrs praise you. Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you; Father, of majesty unbounded, your true and only Son, worthy of all worship, and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide. You, Christ, are the king of glory, the eternal Son of the Father. When you became man to set us free you did not shun the Virgin s womb. You overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God s right hand in glory. We believe that you will come and be our judge. Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting. V. Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance. R. Govern and uphold them now and always. V. Day by day we bless you. R. We praise your name for ever. V. Keep us today, Lord, from all sin. R. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy. V. Lord, show us your love and mercy, R. For we have put our trust in you. V. In you, Lord, is our hope: R. Let us never be put to shame. Prayer to St. Joseph: Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.

(1 Tes. 5:16-18). Usé esta cita para el boletín de Acción de Gracias, y poco para mi sorpresa esta cita sería en la segunda lectura de este año para el tercer domingo de Adviento. Ahora, en el tiempo de Navidad, seguimos reflexionando sobre esas palabras de San Pablo, especialmente al llegar a su fin de Sólo puedo imaginar que para muchas personas este ha sido un año extremadamente difícil marcado de dolor sobre el dolor. Sin embargo, todavía damos gracias a Dios por las bendiciones (incluso si las consideramos pequeñas) que nos ha otorgado este último año. Esto es más que ver lo bueno en lo malo porque con el don nuestra fe esperamos en Dios, y confiamos en Su Divina Providencia desde que por medio del nacimiento de Su Hijo se nos ha dado un Salvador en quien tenemos vida en abundancia.
