34 BVB/13 NORCECA COMPETITION DIRECTOR S REPORT EVENT: BARRANQUILLA, COL DATE: JULY 25-AUGUST 2, 2018 NORCECA SUPERVISOR: ED DRAKICH (CAN) This report must be duly signed by the parties concerned and sent to the NORCECA Beach Dept. within 7 days from the conclusion of an event. There were sometimes the internet was weak and inconsistent. 44 teams total (22 women s teams and 22 men s teams). 26 countries total 3

Number of courts available, including competition and warm up (at least one per gender) Communication between courts and competition management (professional radios, mobile phones as required) STADIUM, FACILITIES & COMPETITION AREA X X X X Approximately 2,000 seats total. 4 competition courts and 1 warm-up court. Courts 3 and 4 were used as warm-up courts in the night matches when only court 1 and 2 were used. By walkie-talkie. Parking area and transportation plan X Very good games transportation. Competition Management and facilities for NORCECA Officials X Excellent. Meeting Rooms used (assignment and purpose) X Use the auditorium nearby excellent. Lounges (players, referees, press, physio / medical, VIP, etc.) X Catering/lunch area (ie. For players, staff, court personnel, volunteers) X Volunteers had a specific area. Players had to bring their own lunch. Manual Scoreboards X The lounges were okay but there was not a private players lounge and not many snacks and fruit were provided to players. 4

International travel arrangements for NORCECA Officials, Referees, etc. Organization of local transportation for players, NORCECA officials, local referees, sponsors, Partners, consultants, guests, media representatives, etc. Ground transport to/from the stadium (if necessary), airport, hotel, social activities, etc. N/A X X X X MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT The sand was a very good colour but became hard packed too easily. FIVB specification sand is recommended for the future. Player s supplied their own tops. X AWARDING CEREMONY Enclose BVB/32 List of Awarders X X Nice awarding ceremony. ACCOMMODATION PLAN: Board and Lodging, Transportation X X X X X Hotel was excellent for Control Committee member. Athletes and coaches stayed in the Athletes Village. Breakfast at the hotel was good. Control Committee members and referees were given a per diem to purchase food. Very good. 5

39 ACCREDITATION AND SECURITY Procedure to control access to accreditation areas. Excellent accreditation system. FINANCIAL MATTERS 6

40 GENERAL IMPRESSIONS AND REMARKS Positive: The preliminary inquiry and technical meeting ran very well. The venue was excellent. The volunteers had a great attitude and worked well. The attitude and effort of the organizers, the referees, the scorers and line judges was excellent. The BVIS manager (Claudia Rivera) was excellent. The transportation was very good. The hotel was excellent. The NORCECA Control Committee performed very well. Overall, this was an excellent 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games. Negative: The stadium had two competition courts. The internet connection was sometimes weak and inconsistent. There sand was not FIVB specification. The players did not have their own private lounge. RECOMMENDED IMPROVEMENTS For the next version of the Central American and Caribbean Games I recommend using one stadium court instead of two. This way the promotion and spectator engagement can be maximized without have the spectator attention divided between 2 courts. Improve the internet connection at the venue. FIVB specification sand should be used in the future. Have a dedicated players lounge in the future that is not shared with volunteers. Signature of the NORCECA Competition Director:.. 7
