10 Synergy Grants Objetivo de la convocatoria: Financiar proyectos de investigación muy ambiciosos que por su naturaleza requieran de la colaboración estrecha de 2, 3 o 4 grupos de investigación, liderados por sus IPs. Tamaño y duración de los proyectos: Hasta un máximo de mill. de euros (por definir aún). Duración: 6 años Plazos: Se estima que la convocatoria abrirá en julio, con la publicación del programa de trabajo 2018 del ERC y cerrará en noviembre 2017 Estructura y localización del grupo SyG: Flexible, dentro del límite de los IPs. Los IPs pueden trabajar todos en la misma institución y país o estar radicados en centros de países diferentes. En todos los casos, se espera una colaboración muy estrecha entre los grupos y se espera que los IPs compartan tiempo de trabajo en un mismo lugar. Si esto no sucede de manera natural, hay que preverlo.

24 III. FET PROACTIVE: Boosting Emerging Technologies Descripción topics Proactive en Borrador WP Artificial organs, tissues and cells. Merging the deep understanding of metabolism and cell behaviour with strategies for the practical delivery and use of functional biological constructs is the core of this initiative. Proposals should build on recent advances in cell biology and genetics that have opened pathways towards the creation of highly specific cell assemblies, tissues, organelles, organs and multi-organ systems. Examples of research targets include the reproduction of vital organ functions, technology to replace or repair functionality lost due to ageing, trauma or disease, 3D/4D bio-printed structures, organ- and body-on-chip technologies. (15MEuro) DRAFT Time. This initiative seeks to demonstrate radically new technological possibilities related to time, for instance to measure, represent, simulate, manipulate, stop, create, invert, multiply, perceive or differently experience and use time. Seeing time not as a given background against which things unfold, but rather as something that can be interacted with is key for this initiative. It calls for exploring new synergies among distant disciplines that study and use time, often at vastly different scales and with different motivations. (13MEuro) 24

25 Descripción topics Proactive en Borrador WP III. FET PROACTIVE: Boosting Emerging Technologies Living technologies. This initiative seeks to build on the emerging results from evolutionary biology, ethology, plant- and animal biology to understand growth, adaptation and evolution, as well as other essential features of living systems, involving gene/phenome/morphology changes. The aim is to create new functional biological, technological or hybrid artefacts, with similar capabilities of change. This can also lead to futuristic complex materials with programmable features of shape, structure and functionality. (20MEuro) DRAFT Deep social interaction technologies. There is a growing understanding of the changes at cognitive, neural and physiological levels from group interactions in realistic settings, from pairs to large groups and crowds. Based on this, this initiative seeks new technologies for deeper social interaction involving, for instance, context, culture, emotion, and factors of embodiment and cognition. Realistic and larger contexts require new experimental tools and paradigms, combining social sciences and humanities with neuroscience, engineering and computing. This will lead to futuristic social media with radical improvement for building trust, social integration, engagement, mutual understanding, collaboration, cognitive resonance, learning, creativity, entertainment and wellbeing, among others. 26 III. FET PROACTIVE: Boosting Emerging Technologies Descripción topics Proactive en Borrador WP Disruptive micro-energy technologies. The technological challenge in energy research relates to its production, distribution, storage and release. This initiative seeks radically new approaches to energy for embedded, local or personal use (including close to the body or within) targeting the lower end (i.e., micro-energy). Proposals should also address aspects of sustainability and impact, as well as novel solutions for integrating with multi-scale energy systems. (15MEuro) DRAFT among others. Here concept development together with design, realisation and testing of Topological matter, strongly based on geometry and quantum physics, is a rapidly emerging area touching the whole spectrum of material properties: topological X are being investigated over the last decade, where X usually represents insulators, and more recently photonics, mechanics, superconductivity, elasticity, acoustics and their combinations, topological devices are called for to unleash the promise of topological matter beyond the pure physics and mathematics aspects. The much expected robustness, wide spectral range and topologically-protected transport properties are calling for an engineering approach to apply the multi-physics of wave-matter interactions to novel, potentially lossless communication components and circuits. Challenges to be addressed include compact designs and fabrication technologies, setting figures of merit and benchmarks relevant to functions. (10MEuro) 26

FET FLAGSHIPS (Graphene&HBP) FET Flagships address ambitious S&T challenges that require: Setting up large scale partnerships that bring together the leading researchers from a large number of research organisations (academia and industry) aiming at transformational impacts with substancial benefits for European competitiveness and for society. Commitment to a strong science investment over a long time period that cannot be carried out alone by the Commission or any single Member State. HBP will develop six ICT platforms, dedicated respectively to Neuroinformatics, Brain Simulation, High Performance Computing, Medical Informatics, Neuromorphic Computing and Neurorobotics. Coordinado por la Escuela Politécnica de Lausana (Suiza). Participan 87 grupos de investigación. Trasladar la investigación en grafeno y materiales 2D desde la academia a los mercados, aprovechando el liderazgo científico europeo. Propiedades del grafeno muy atractivas: 2D; transparente; flexible; conductor de electricidad, conductor calor (mejor que el acero), resistencia, estable químicamente, biocompatible, impermeable...
