4 Catholic Social Teaching Corner Social Concerns The central characters in today s Gospel are the shepherds. When Jesus was born, they were not seen as good Jews or good citizens. The first persons to worship Christ and to be welcomed by Mary were outcasts. Like Mary and Jesus are we willing to see outcasts with new eyes? MORNING PRAYER Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:15am Come and join us every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:15 a.m. in the Adoration Chapel for Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours. The Liturgy of the Hours is the official prayer of the Church, second only to the Mass in importance! Morning Prayer takes about 15 minutes and is a great way to start your day. One ministry in particular, needs YOUR help. The Stewardship Committee meets monthly to discuss ways in which they can support ALL ministries of Saint William and increase the awareness and importance of stewardship in the community. The Stewardship Committee plays a part in planning the Spirit of Saint William gatherings for ministry leaders, recognizing those who give their time and talent to make Saint William the thriving parish that it is, and working together with our parish priests to ensure that stewardship is a part of the daily parish life. We are in need of committed parishioners who want to take our ministry to the next level. The next meeting is January 9 at 6:30pm in the parish office conference room. Vocations Committee Book Drive to help the Diocese of Austin Seminarians Do you have gently used books you ve finished reading? The Vocations Committee is collecting such books of all kinds: novels, cookbooks, old and new titles, children s books, religious books, videos, CDs, DVDs, and even audio tapes to raise money for gifts to seminarians of our Diocese. We will sell your books to Half-Price Books and use the money to purchase gift cards. Please bring your books to the Narthex of the church between January 15 and January 22.
