Johnson 9/21/12 INFORMATION On September 19, the AC Transit Board approved the station canopy design for the Downtown Oakland to San Leandro (DOSL) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line. The selected design is described as a Hip Roof design and was previously selected by the AC Transit s BRT Policy Steering Committee, a working group of AC and city officials, on September 14. AC Transit is swiftly moving to hold station architecture workshops in Oakland next week in Council Districts 2, 5 and 7 (see attached flyers for more information): Monday, September 24, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Fruitvale Senior Center Wednesday, September 26, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center Saturday, September 29, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the 81 st Avenue Library City staff is strongly encouraging AC Transit to ensure that all stakeholders identified during the environmental review process are represented at these meetings. We have requested that AC Transit bring the station architecture design forward to the Oakland Planning Commission and Joint Access Compliance Advisory Committee of the Oakland Commission on Aging and Commission on Persons with Disabilities. Finally, we urged AC Transit to reference the other station designs that were considered and not selected.

6 REUNIONES SOBRE LA ARQUITECTURA DE ESTACIÓNES En Julio, Los Ayuntamientos de San Leandro y Oakland se unieron con La Junta Directiva para aprobar el proyecto de Tránsito Rápido en la Bahía Este, que conectará el Centro de Oakland con Oakland Este y San Leandro con servicio cada cinco minutos en horas pico. Mientras AC Transit desarrolla el diseño de las instalaciones de BRT, seguimos solicitando comentarios públicos. Por favor una los pasajeros, vecinos, negocios, y personales de AC Transit en el taller sobre la arquitectura de las nuevas estaciones. En la reunión, puede ver y hacer comentarios sobre los diseños de arquitectura propuestos, y aprender sobre tratos de paso de peatones y otros comodidades. Una segunda ronda de reuniones sobre el diseño vecinal será realizado en Noviembre. Es la mejor opción disponible para establecer un servicio de tránsito de buena calidad, atraer pasajeros a tránsito público, y luchar contra el calentamiento global. BRT puede ser implementado en fases, dando un alivio inmediato y ofreciendo más opciones económicas de expansión. También atrae desarrollo orientado al tránsito. Del Norte al sur, la ruta de BRT comenzará en la Estación Uptown de Calle 20; siga Broadway a Calles 11 y 12, siguiendo alrededor de Lago Merritt en Calle 12 Este. La ruta seguirá Calle 12 Este y Bulevar Internacional a Avenida 14, siguiendo en Bulevar Internacional a través de Oakland Este. En la límite municipal de San Leandro, sigue la ruta a lo largo de Calle 14 Este al centro de San Leandro, hasta Calle David y BART San Leandro.
