Nombre del proyecto: Hadrones, quarks y leptones, sus interacciones y estructura (28265E) Fuente de financiamiento: CONACYT Duración: 15 diciembre de 1998 por 24 meses Monto: $168, Descripción: Estudiar la contribución del mar a las diferentes propiedades estáticas de los bariones de espin ½. Extender el estudio para considerar las contribuciones del mar sobre las propiedades de baja energía en el decuplete de bariones de espin 3/2 y los mesones pseudoescalares de espin 0 y vectoriales de espin 1. Gupta and V. Singh. Phys. Rev., vol. B135, pag , The process, decouplet octet + octet was considered taking into account first-order breaking of SU (3) flavor symmetry. One of the sum rules involves the coupling constants for the four observable decays ( 1232 ), ( 1385) and, ( 1530 ). The sum rule is rather well satisfied experimentally. The result is important as it was one of the earlier works which provided a firm foundation for flavor SU(3). The paper has over 50 citations and is quoted in review articles and books, e.g. Eight fold way by M. Gell-Mann and Y. Neéman. 17

18 2. A New perturbative approach to renormalizable field theories, A. Dhar and V. Gupta, rev. Physical Review D, vol. 29, pag , A new method for obtaining perturbative predictions in renormalizable quantum field theories is given in this paper. This method gives finite predictions free of any renormalization scheme ambiguities. The importance of the method is that it bypasses the conventional renormalization procedure and the ambiguities connected with it. Perturbation theory developed here gives scheme-independent predictions at finite order. The importance of this work is beginning to be appreciated. There are over 75 citations in journals, conference talks, etc. 3. New Perturbative Approach To General Renormalizable Quantum Field Theories, V. Gupta, D. V. Shirkov and O. V. Tarasov, Rev. International Journal of Modern Physiscs, vol. 6 pag., , This paper extends and generalizes the new perturbative approach (called RESIPE) presented in the earlier paper (A. Dhar and V. Gupta, rev. Physical Review D, vol. 29, pag , 1984.) to quantum field theories which have masses and more than one coupling constants. The renormalization group formalism is used. In addition, a new scheme independent perturbation expansion (without-reference to renormalization group techniques) is given which is valid for the general case. The importance of this work lies in that it shows that RESIPE provides a full-fledged renormalization scheme independent alternative to conventional scheme-dependent perturbation theory.
