Newsletter Week of: October 12, 2015 Hello families, Strong Hearts, Strong Minds, Strong Individuals, Strong Community SFC News San Francisco Community School is hosting a Halloween Kermes/Carnival on October 31 st, from 11am to 3pm at SFC. All are welcome! There will be fun for kids of all ages bouncy house, carnival games, haunted house, popcorn and cotton candy and other yummy food, PLUS music, face painting, pumpkin and trick-ortreat bag decorating, and so much more! Mark your calendar. Our monthly Parent Action Council (PAC) meeting is on Thursday at 6:00 pm in the school library. We're going to spend most of the meeting finalizing our plans for the Halloween Kermes Carnival and finalizing volunteers. Please come support our planning, whether or not you have ever come before. Dinner and childcare provided. Projects begin this month! All grade levels are diving into their fall interdisciplinary projects, engaging students through science-based inquiry projects. This is the most exciting time of year for students and staff, as we focus on meaningful, relevant, and rigorous work that cross-cuts the disciplines. Project Open House, our student exhibition night required for all families, will be on Thursday, December 17 th from 6:00-7:30 pm. K Families: Any students who have not turned in their health records and immunizations reports ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO ATTEND SCHOOL, EFFECTIVE MONDAY, OCTOBER 5. Contact Nurse Lisa with any questions: loell@sfusd.edu. 7 th Grade Families: 7 th graders who have not turned in their immunization reports will not be able to attend school until they do, beginning November 1. Don't forget to check out our Community page of other list serves you might be interested in joining to better support your kids! http://my-sfcs.org/our-community/sfc-emailgroup/ The SFC art department would like to thank the following SFC parents for going above and beyond to help beautify our school and to help give our students as many arts-rich experiences as possible: Charlie Gadeken and Reuben Rude for the awesome new signs on our Paris St. fences; Sally Sparks for helping to restore and preserve the murals around our school; Alli Cuentos for her weekly dance classes with K-5 (and Middle School 2nd semester); Tim Christianson and Christina Brown for their help in K/1 classes with art and dance; Chuck Whelon, Reuben Rude, ChiAn Chien, Dale Low, Christian Santiago, and Adore Davidson for supporting the Middle School electives classes with their art forms (ranging from technological creativity, cartooning, digital video, and pottery wheel support). Todos estan bienvenidos! Habrá diversión para niños de todas las edades casas jumpy, juegos de carnaval, casa espantada, palomitas y dulces de algodón, y otra comida deliciosa, ADEMAS habrá música, pintura de la cara, decoración de calabaza bolsa de trick- or-treat, y mucho más!
