1 SFC News Hal Richards is our new music teacher. He comes with many years of experience as an instrumental specialist. He plays all woodwinds and is experienced teaching a wide range of instruments. He is looking forward to becoming a part of the community and teaching our music program! The pancake breakfast is Saturday, February 11th from 9am-12pm at SFC. We expect to have a great turn out and loads of excellent food, music, Valentine's Day chocolates, and outdoor activities. The deadline for ordering chocolates is the 31 st of January. Please Eileen with any questions or orders- Econklin2000@yahoo.com. SFC gear has arrived (finally!). You can pick up your gear later this week in the office. Strong Community Parent Action Committee: Thurs Feb 09 th at 6:00pm. Dinner and childcare provided. Please come help plan upcoming fundraisers and community events. Strong Individuals We support students to be strong individuals through the following classroom and school activities: 2/3: Students in 2/3 are studying the digestive system as part of their nutrition project this winter. Students are making and labeling human sized models on butcher paper of their digestive systems. 4/5/6: Tawnya, our fantastic librarian, has started book clubs for 4/5/6 th grade students. Children who choose to participate will be meeting over lunch in the library weekly and reading and discussing several great books. 7/8: 7/8 th grade students will be receiving their third quarter progress reports today. Please look for it and discuss your child s learning progress and goals for the third quarter. If you have any questions or comments, please call your child s advisor. 2 Noticias de SFC Hal Richards es el nuevo maestro de música. Tiene muchos años como un especialista en los instrumentos. Individuos Fuertes Apoyamos a los estudiantes a ser individuos fuertes a través de estas actividades: 2/3: Los alumnos están estudiando el sistema digestivo como parte del proyecto sobre la nutrición este invierno. Los alumnos están haciendo modelos en papel de tamaño humano sobre los sistemas digestivos. 4/5/6: Tawnya, la bibliotecaria fantástica, ha formado clubes de libros para los estudiantes de grados 4/5/6. Los niños que optan a participar van a juntar cada semana durante la hora del almuerzo, para leer y platicar sobre libros importantes. 7/8: Los alumnos van a recibir los informes de calificaciones. Por favor búsquelo y hablar con si hijo sobre su progreso y las metas para este periodo. Si tiene preguntas ó comentarios, por favor comunicarse con el maestro asesor de su hijo.
