1 The school-home compact is a written agreement between administrators, teachers, parents, and students. It is a document that clarifies what families and schools can do to help children reach high academic standards. Students Pledge: I will Let my teacher and family know if I need help. Read on my own and with my family every day. Work on my math and reading skills at home, using the materials my teacher sends home. Write down assignments, do my homework every day, and turn it in when it s due. Participate in class and not interrupt the learning of others. Be responsible for my belongings and come to class prepared. Show respect for teachers, students, and the building. Parents Pledge: I will Let the teacher know if my child has any problems with learning. Use reading and math materials the school sends home each week to help my child. Read with my child everyday as instructed by my child s teacher. Help my child see how to use reading and math to pursue his/her interests and goals. Assure that my child gets 8-10 hours of rest a night. Assure my child attends school regularly. Provide an area for my child to complete homework without distractions. Support my child and the school by attending Family Nights and other campus events. Teachers and Administration Pledge: We will Create a culture of respect with every family in our school. Assign work that is relevant and interesting. Grade assignments promptly and send papers home in a timely manner. Monitor student progress and update parents every 6 weeks. Make sure all students get help as soon as it s needed. Send home learning materials in math and reading. Explain our approach to teaching, grade level expectations, and classroom grading system to students and their families. Continually work on teaching strategies so we can successfully teach all children.
