2 What is the English Language Success Team? The purpose of our committee is to provide an open conversation between parents, students, and teachers in order to move our students from limited to full English proficiency before they graduate from e3. 4 California English Language Development Test (CELDT) Update Each year, schools throughout California are required to test the English language skills of students who are English learners through the CELDT. The purposes of the CELDT are to: 1. Identify English learners 2. Measure their skill level in English 3. Check their progress in learning English each year There are 5 levels of achievement: 1-Beginning, 2-Early Intermediate, 3-Intermediate, 4-Early Advanced, and 5Advanced.
5 California English Language Development Test (CELDT) Update Cada año, escuelas en California están obligados a aplicar una prueba de habilidades del dominio del idioma inglés a estudiantes que están aprendiendo el inglés. 6 Reclassification In the Spring, we will receive the official CELDT score reports from the California Department of Education. Then, we will be able to evaluate students eligibility for reclassification to the status of fully English proficient. For a student to be eligible, we will evaluate: CELDT results Teacher evaluation of curriculum mastery Parent Opinion and consultation Performance on the Smarter Balance Assessment (CAASP) in English.
