1 L.E.E.R. Reading Program El Programa L.E.E.R. Dear Parents, We are excited to begin our fourth year of the Fiesta Gardens International School PTA-sponsored LEER ( Lectura Enriquece y Es un Regalo / Reading Enriches and is a Gift ) Family Reading Program for students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. The goals of the LEER program are: - to encourage the joy of reading at home in Spanish; - provide families with a wide variety of enjoyable Spanish and bilingual books; and, - encourage literacy in Spanish. Starting September 7, 2017, your child will bring home two books every Thursday in an orange LEER book bag. We ask that you or someone in your household read a book together with your child on a daily basis. Please return both books labeled "LEER" in the orange LEER book bag every Thursday in order for your child to receive the next set of books. Please note that this program is different from the books children in 1st and 2nd grade bring home to read as part of their individual reading practice. The LEER books are meant to be part of family reading time - to be read by family members with their children. Do not worry if you cannot read the book just discuss what you think the story is about and see if you can figure out what some of the words mean. (Make it a game, not a tedious chore!) We hope you will share stories and enjoy the books! In order to support this program for years to come, if families lose books and book bags, we will ask for a donation to replace them (approximately $25 for two books and one book bag). Enjoy reading with your child! Estimados padres de familia, Estamos muy entusiasmados de comenzar nuestro cuarto año del Programa de Lectura para Familias, patrocinado por la PTA de Fiesta Gardens International School: LEER ( Lectura Enriquece y Es un Regalo ) para alumnos en Kindergarten, 1º y 2º grado. Los objetivos del programa LEER son: -Alentar al gozo de leer en español en el hogar -Proveer con una variedad amplia de libros bilingües y libros en español que puedan disfrutar -Fomentar la alfabetización en español Empezando el 7 de septiembre, cada jueves su niño/a llevará a casa dos libros en una bolsa de libros color naranja. Le pedimos que usted o alguien en su hogar lea un libro con su niño diariamente. Por favor, cada jueves devuelva ambos libros con la etiqueta LEER en la bolsa de libros anaranjada de LEER para que su niño/a pueda recibir la siguiente serie de libros. Por favor tenga en cuenta que éste programa es diferente a los libros que los niños de 1º y 2º grado llevan a casa como parte de su práctica de lectura individual. Los libros de LEER están destinados a ser parte de lectura con la familia para ser leídos por miembros de la familia con sus niños. No se preocupe si no puede leer el libro solo hable de lo que piensa que se trata la historia y vea si puede descifrar el significado de algunas palabras. ( Hágalo un juego, no una tarea tediosa!) Esperamos que compartan historias y disfruten de los libros! Para apoyar a este programa en próximos años, si familias pierden libros y bolsas de libros, pediremos que hacen una donación para reemplazarlos (aproximadamente $25 por dos libros y una bolsa).
