INSTALACIÓN DE CLIMATIZACIÓN Y VENTILACIÓN DE UN CENTRO COMERCIAL SITUADO EN VALENCIA Autor: Ventura Pérez, Alfonso. Director: Merayo Cuesta, Eduardo.
AIR CONDITIONING OF A MALL IN VALENCIA Author: Ventura Pérez, Alfonso. Director: Merayo Cuesta, Eduardo. Affiliation: ICAI Universidad Pontificia Comillas ABSTRACT The purpose of this project is to establish the legal and technical conditions that the installation of an air conditioning system for a mall in Valencia must satisfy. The air conditioning system has been designed in order to satisfy both cooling and heating needs during the whole year. The mall is composed of seven levels. The roof of the building, four floors with spaces for commerce and restaurants and two basements with multipurpose and parking spaces. The system has been designed in order to provide comfortable conditions of 24 ºC in summer, 21 ºC in winter with a 50 % of relative humidity. The calculations of the thermal loads of the areas to be air-conditioned have been done according to current legal codes and regulations (RITE) and to the architectural scheme of the building. In order to do this, location of the building, thermal transmission of the materials, and occupation and lighting to which the building is going to be exposed, have been taken into account. Among the non-air-conditioned areas are stairs and facilities rooms. To calculate the thermal loads of the building it has been taken into account the indications of Carrier s Air Conditioning Manual supported by an Excel spreadsheet to make the workload lighter. The total thermal power required by the building is 986,44 kw in summer and 581,87 kw in winter. These thermal loads have been calculated under the worst conditions. These external conditions are based on climate studies. For the loads in summer we have to take into account the transmission, radiation, infiltration, occupancy (sensible and latent) and the contributions of the electrical equipment and the lighting in every space.
After the calculations of the thermal load, it has been calculated each area s equipment to be air-conditioned. It has been decided to install three, two for the multipurpose room and the office placed in the upper basement, of 284 kw and 97,1 kw respectively, and another for the common areas of the mal of 609 kw. The other spaces of the building will be provided with a preinstallation for air treatment and water. These air handling units will be installed in a space destined for equipment in the upper basement. The drive ducts to the air-conditioned areas and the return ducts to the air conditioning units have been designed following the indications on Carrier s manual, and are made of square galvanized steel, and its appropriate isolation, with diameters from 125 to 1.400 mm. The vertical ducts will either flow through the facilities rises. The drive conduits supply the ceiling diffusers in every floor. For the return flow, rectangular grilles have been provided. For the production of heat/cool there are two heat pumps of 180 kw each one. All of these units will be installed in the space destined for equipment in the upper basement and from them will leave the water pipes that will supply with hot and cool water to the air handling units. To dimension the water pipes, indications on Carrier s manual have been followed. The pipes section decreases as it leaves to supply the airconditioning units. To assure the proper water pressure in the equipment, they have been calculated and installed four pumps, according to the greatest losses of load in the circuits. Two pumps are situated next to the cool and heat production units, and it guaranties the pressure to supply the air handling units in the roof and one more group for cool water and another one for heat water. The chosen pumps provide flow from 41 to 105 m3/h and pressures from 1,22 to 22,16 m.w.c. They have been installed additional pumps in parallel with the others to assure the supply in case of failure. Finally, the rest of auxiliary accessories that complete the system, such as valves, expansion tanks, accessories, etc. have been chosen and installed. The technical requirements document details the specifications that the execution of the project must satisfy. A system of automatic control has also been installed in order be able to administer the installation from the distance and to increase energy s performance. The annexes document contains the technical specifications of all the elements composing the air conditioning system. Likewise, the drawings indicate the layout of all components, equipment, conduits and pipes.
The total quotation of the current project, enclosed to the last document of the project, amounts to 803.693,24 (eight hundred and three thousand six hundred and ninety three euros and twenty four cents).
