5 Wear It Right Wearing your drop down half facepiece respirator Adjust head cradle size as needed to fit comfortably on head. Drop down half facepiece respirator While holding head harness strap ends with one hand, slide the facepiece onto your face. Hook the bottom straps together behind your neck. Check the seal of your half facepiece respirator each time you don the respirator. If you cannot achieve a proper fit, do not enter contaminated area. See your supervisor. Positive Pressure User Seal Check a Place the palm of your hand over the exhalation valve cover opening and exhale gently. If facepiece bulges slightly and no air leaks are detected between your face and the facepiece, a proper fit has been obtained. If air leaks between the face and the face seal of the respirator, reposition it and adjust straps for a more secure fit. Adjust strap tension by pulling strap ends to achieve a secure fit. Balance strap tension by adjusting at top and bottom strap buckles. Do not over tighten. Negative Pressure User Seal Check With Cartridges. If you feel facepiece collapse slightly and pull closer to your face, with no leaks between the face and facepiece, a proper fit has been obtained. Balancee la tensión ajustando la hebilla de las correas superiores e inferiores. No apriete demasiado. La tensión de las hebillas puede aflojarse empujando y soltando la presilla posterior.
