4 Overview Instant EtherFast Series After installing the EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card in your PC, follow these instructions to install the card s driver. For troubleshooting tips during setup, please contact Linksys technical support. 10/100 LAN Card 4. A screen will appear stating that Windows 95 was unable to locate the driver. Click Other Locations to enter the driver s location manually. Windows 95 Quick Installation 1. Start up your PC in Windows 95. Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC. 2. Windows 95 will automatically detect the EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card in your PC. The Update Device Driver Wizard window (below) or a similar window will appear. 5. Type the driver location, D:\Drivers\WIN95, in the location field on the Select Other Location Screen. Then, click OK. 3. Insert the Linksys Setup Utility CD into your CD-ROM drive. Click Next. 4 5

Verify that the Setup Utility CD is in your CD-ROM drive and click Finish to continue. 10/100 LAN Card Windows 98 Quick Installation 1. Start up your PC in Windows 98. Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC. 2. Windows 98 will automatically detect the presence of the EtherFast Card in your PC. 3. Insert the Linksys Setup Utility CD into your CD-ROM drive while the Add New Hardware Wizard (in English) window is visible. Click Next. 4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) and click Next. 7. The following screen will prompt you for the driver location. In the Copy Files From: field, type D:\Drivers\WIN95. Then, click OK. 8. Windows 95 will begin copying files to your PC. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the floppy disk and click Yes. The Etherfast 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully. 6 7

6 Instant EtherFast Series 5. Select "Specify a location" and type D:\Drivers\WIN98 in the drop-down box. Then, click Next. 10/100 LAN Card 8. If Windows asks you to supply any drivers beginning with lne or netlne, re-direct Windows to your floppy drive (D:\Drivers\WIN98). 9. Windows will finish installing the software onto your PC. Click Finish. 6. A window will open, notifying you that Windows is searching for the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter driver. When the window notifies you that it is ready to install the driver, click Next. 10. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from your PC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so manually. Click the Start button, then click Shutdown, and choose the Restart option. Then, click OK. The Etherfast 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully Windows 98 will begin copying the EtherFast Card s driver files onto your PC. If an Insert Disk box appears requesting Windows 98 files, click OK and direct Windows to the proper location of the files, e.g., D:\win98 (insert the windows CD into your CD-ROM if directing Windows to your Windows CD) or c:\windows\options\cabs. 9

7 Windows ME Quick Installation 1. Start up your PC in Windows Millennium. Instant EtherFast Series Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC. 10/100 LAN Card 5. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) and select "Specify a location". Then, type D:\Drivers\WINME in the drop-down box and click Next. 2. Windows ME will automatically detect the presence of the PCI Ethernet Controller hardware in your PC. 3. Insert the Linksys LNE100TX (ver. 5) Fast Ethernet Adapter Drivers CD into your CD-ROM drive while the Add New Hardware Wizard (in English) window is visible. Click Next. 4. Select "Specify the location of the driver (Advanced) and click Next. 6. A window will open, notifying you that Windows is searching for the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter driver. When the window notifies you that it is ready to install the driver, click Next Windows Millennium will begin copying the EtherFast Card s driver files onto your PC. Have your Windows Millennium CD available. If an Insert Disk box appears requesting Windows Millennium files, click OK and direct Windows to the proper location of the files, e.g., D:\win9x (insert the Windows CD into your CD-ROM if directing Windows to your Windows CD) or c:\windows\options\cabs. 11

If Windows asks you to supply any drivers beginning with lne or netlne, make sure the Linksys Setup Utility CD is in the CD-ROM drive and redirect Windows to your CD-ROM drive (D:\Drivers\WINME, where D represents your CD-ROM drive). 9. Windows will finish installing the software onto your PC. Click Finish. 10/100 LAN Card Windows NT Quick Installation The following steps are for NT PCs that have networking already installed according to the Windows NT documentation. If you have not already installed networking onto your NT PC, please refer to your Windows documentation. These steps will install the EtherFast Card s driver software on your PC, enabling your PC to properly communicate with the card. Remember that you must be logged on as a network administrator to continue. 1. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, then double-click on the Network icon. 2. When the networking window appears, choose the Adapters tab. Click Add. 10. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from your PC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so manually. Click the Start button, then click Shutdown, and choose the Restart option and click OK. Your Etherfast 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully

9 Instant EtherFast Series 3. When the list of available network adapters appears, click the Have Disk button. 10/100 LAN Card 6. When NT asks you for the media type. Choose the AutoSense option. When finished, click on Continue. Then, click Close. 7. If Windows NT asks you to supply your original Windows NT CD-ROM or setup disks, direct Windows NT to the proper location (most likely D:\i386). 4. Put the Linksys Setup Utility CD into your CD-ROM drive. Type A:\ into the box on your screen and click OK. 8. Click on the Protocols tab. Add any protocols you require by clicking the Add button. (Refer to your Microsoft documentation if you have any questions on adding protocols.) 9. After your bindings, settings, and services are set, click the Close button. 5. Highlight the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v5) entry in the window that appears. Click OK

10 Instant EtherFast Series 10. Remove your Driver Disk and CD-ROM and click Yes to restart your PC. 10/100 LAN Card Windows 2000 Quick Installation 1. Start your Windows 2000 PC. Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC. 2. Windows will display the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) box. Click Next. 11. Once your PC has rebooted, double-click the Network Neighborhood icon on your desktop. Make sure that you have access to the network. If you do, your card has been properly installed. 3. The Install Hardware Device Drivers dialog box will appear. When Ethernet Controller is displayed, select Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended). Click Next. If you had previously installed any NT service packs, you must re-install them. Otherwise, you may receive Not Enough Service Storage Space errors in the Event Viewer. If you need to install the TCP/IP protocol, refer to your system administrator or your Windows NT documentation. Linksys does not provide technical support for the configuration or troubleshooting of the TCP/IP protocol. The Windows NT Installation and Setup of the EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card is complete

11 Instant EtherFast Series 4. The Locate Driver Files dialog box will appear. Select Specify a location. Click Next. 10/100 LAN Card 6. The Driver File Search Results dialog box will appear. Click Next. 5. When the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) box appears, insert the Linksys Setup Utility CD into your CD-ROM drive. In the Copy manufacturer s files from field, type D:\Drivers\WIN2000. Click OK. 7. The Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) dialog box will appear. Click Finish When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from your PC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so manually. Installation is now complete. If you want to share files or printers, see your Windows 2000 documentation. 19

12 Windows XP Quick Installation Instant EtherFast Series Windows XP has a built-in LNE100TX NIC driver. After physically installing the EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card into your PC, Windows XP will automatically install the LNE100TX driver. The device driver may identify the LAN Card as version 4.1. Use this quick installation to update the built-in driver that ships with Windows XP. 10/100 LAN Card 5. Click the Driver tab and select Update driver... to update the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter Driver. If you want to use the new driver on the LNE100TX(v5.1) driver CD, you must update the driver for this device. 1. Power up your PC and start Windows XP. 2. Click Start and open the Control Panel. Double-click on the Performance and Maintenance icon. 3. Double-click on the System icon. Select the Hardware item. 4. Click Device Manager and select Network Adapters. Double-click on the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v4) item. 6. The Hardware Update Wizard (in English) dialog box will appear. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next

13 Instant EtherFast Series 7. Select Search for the best driver in these locations. Then select Include this location in the search:. 8. Enter the driver pathname (e.g., D:\Drivers\WinXP) in the field. Click Next. 3. When the Completing the Hardware Update Wizard (in English) dialog box is shown, the screen will show the following adapter name: Linksys LNE100TX v5 Fast Ethernet Adapter Click Finish to complete the installation. Installation is now complete. 22

15 Vue d'ensemble Série EtherFast Après avoir installé la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast dans l'ordinateur, suivre les instructions ci-dessous pour installer son pilote. Carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps 4. Une fenêtre s'affiche pour signaler que Windows 95 n'a pas pu trouver de pilote. Cliquer sur Autres emplacements pour indiquer l'emplacement du pilote manuellement. Installation rapide sous Windows Démarrer l'ordinateur sous Windows 95. Remarque : Ne pas cliquer sur Annuler ou Ignorer pendant l'installation. Cela empêcherait l'installation correcte du pilote sur l'ordinateur. 2. Windows 95 détecte automatiquement la présence de la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast dans l'ordinateur. La fenêtre de l'assistant Mise à jour de pilote de périphérique (ci-dessous) ou une fenêtre similaire s'affiche. 5. Taper le chemin d'accès au pilote, D:\Drivers\WIN95, dans le champ Emplacement de la fenêtre Sélection d'un autre emplacement, puis cliquer sur OK. 3. Lorsque Windows demande de redémarrer l'ordinateur, retirer la disquette du lecteur et cliquer sur Oui. Si Windows ne demande pas de redémarrer le système, le faire manuellement. Cliquer sur le bouton Démarrer, cliquer sur Arrêter, sélectionner l'option Redémarrer, puis cliquer sur OK. L'installation de la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast est alors terminée. 7. Windows 98 commence alors à copier les fichiers de pilote de la carte EtherFast sur l'ordinateur. Si une fenêtre s'affiche pour demander l'insertion d'un disque contenant certains fichiers de Windows 98, cliquer sur OK et indiquer le chemin d'accès à ces fichiers ; il peut s'agir par exemple de D:\win98 (si le chemin d'accès indiqué correspond au disque d'installation de Windows, insérer celui-ci dans le lecteur de CD- ROM) ou de C:\windows\options\cabs

18 Installation rapide sous Windows ME 1. Démarrer l'ordinateur sous Windows ME. Série EtherFast Remarque : Ne pas cliquer sur Annuler ou Ignorer pendant l'installation. Cela empêcherait l'installation correcte du pilote sur l'ordinateur. Carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps 5. Sélectionner Rechercher le meilleur pilote pour votre périphérique (recommandé), puis Définir un emplacement. Taper D:\Drivers\WINME dans la zone de liste déroulante, puis cliquer sur Suivant. 2. Windows ME détecte automatiquement la présence d'un adaptateur Ethernet dans le connecteur PCI de l'ordinateur. 3. Lorsque la fenêtre Assistant Ajout de nouveau matériel s'affiche, insérer le disque Linksys Setup Utility (Utilitaire de configuration Linksys) dans le lecteur de CD- ROM. 4. Sélectionner Spécifier l' emplacement du pilote (avancé), puis cliquer sur Suivant. 6. Une fenêtre s'affiche pour indiquer que Windows recherche le pilote Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter. Lorsque cette fenêtre signale que Windows est prêt à installer le pilote, cliquer sur Suivant. 32 En cas de questions sur la configuration du réseau ou l'installation de composants de réseau, prendre contact avec l'assistance technique de Linksys. 7. Windows Millennium commence alors à copier les fichiers de pilote de la carte EtherFast sur l'ordinateur. Tenir le disque de Windows Millennium sous la main. Si une fenêtre s'affiche pour demander l'insertion d'un disque contenant certains fichiers de Windows Millennium, cliquer sur OK et indiquer le chemin d'accès à ces fichiers ; il peut s'agir par exemple de D:\win9x (si le chemin d'accès indiqué correspond au disque d'installation de Windows, insérer celui-ci dans le lecteur de CD- ROM) ou de C:\windows\options\cabs. 33

Si Windows demande de fournir des pilotes dont le nom commence par " lne " ou " netlne ", vérifier que le disque Linksys Setup Utility se trouve dans le lecteur de CD-ROM et indiquer le chemin d'accès correspondant (D:\Drivers\WINME, où la lettre " D " représente le lecteur de CD-ROM). 9. Windows finit alors d'installer le logiciel sur l'ordinateur. Cliquer sur Terminer. Carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps Installation rapide sous Windows NT Les étapes ci-dessous sont destinées aux ordinateurs fonctionnant sous Windows NT dont les fonctions de mise en réseau sont déjà installées conformément à la documentation de ce système d'exploitation. Si les composants de mise en réseau ne sont pas encore installés sur l'ordinateur, se reporter à la documentation de Windows NT. Les étapes suivantes consistent à installer le logiciel pilote de la carte EtherFast sur l'ordinateur pour qu'il puisse communiquer correctement avec celle-ci. Il faut avoir ouvert une session comme administrateur réseau pour pouvoir continuer. 1. Cliquer sur Démarrer, Paramètres et Panneau de configuration, puis cliquer deux fois sur l'icône Réseau. 2. Lorsque la fenêtre des paramètres réseau apparaît, sélectionner l'onglet Cartes, puis cliquer sur Ajouter. 10. Lorsque Windows demande de redémarrer l'ordinateur, retirer le CD-ROM du lecteur et cliquer sur Oui. Si Windows ne demande pas de redémarrer le système, le faire manuellement. Cliquer sur le bouton Démarrer, cliquer sur Arrêter, sélectionner l'option Redémarrer, puis cliquer sur OK L'installation de la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast est alors terminée

20 Série EtherFast 3. Lorsque la liste des cartes réseau disponibles s'affiche, cliquer sur le bouton Disquette fournie. Carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps 6. Lorsque Windows NT demande d'indiquer le type de support, sélectionner l'option AutoSense (Autodétection), puis cliquer sur Continuer et sur Fermer. 7. Si Windows NT demande de fournir le CD-ROM ou les disquettes d'installation d'origine du système d'exploitation, indiquer le chemin d'accès correspondant (très probablement D:\i386). 4. Insérer le disque Linksys Setup Utility dans le lecteur de CD-ROM. Taper D:\Drivers dans la zone de saisie, puis cliquer sur OK. 8. Cliquer sur l'onglet Protocoles, puis sur le bouton Ajouter pour ajouter tous les protocoles requis (pour toute question concernant l'ajout de protocoles, se reporter à la documentation de Microsoft). 5. Sélectionner Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v5) dans la fenêtre qui s'affiche, puis cliquer sur OK. 9. Après avoir établi les liaisons, les paramètres et les services voulus, cliquer sur le bouton Fermer

21 Série EtherFast 10. Retirer la disquette ou le CD-ROM des pilotes et cliquer sur Oui pour redémarrer l'ordinateur. Carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps Installation rapide sous Windows Démarrer l'ordinateur sous Windows Remarque : Ne pas cliquer sur Annuler ou Ignorer pendant l'installation. Cela empêcherait l'installation correcte du pilote sur l'ordinateur. 2. Windows affiche la boîte de dialogue Assistant Matériel détecté. Cliquer sur Suivant. 11. Une fois que l'ordinateur a redémarré, cliquer deux fois sur l'icône Voisinage réseau du bureau. Vérifier que l'ordinateur a accès au réseau. Si c'est le cas, la carte est correctement installée. 3. La boîte de dialogue Installation de pilotes de périphériques matériels s'affiche. Lorsque Ethernet Controller s'affiche, sélectionner Rechercher un pilote approprié pour mon périphérique (recommandé). Cliquer sur Suivant. Si des mises à jour (Service Packs) de Windows NT ont préalablement été installées sur l'ordinateur, il faut les réinstaller. Sinon, des messages d'erreur du type «Espace insuffisant pour le stockage des services» risquent d'apparaître dans l'observateur d'événements. Lorsqu'il est nécessaire d'installer le protocole TCP/IP, consulter l'administrateur du système ou la documentation de Windows NT. Linksys ne fournit pas d'assistance technique pour la configuration ou la mise au point du protocole TCP/IP. L'installation et la configuration de la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast sous Windows NT sont alors terminées

Lorsque la fenêtre Assistant Matériel détecté s'affiche, insérer le disque Linksys Setup Utility dans le lecteur de CD-ROM, puis taper D:\Drivers\WIN2000 dans le champ Copier les fichiers du fabricant à partir de. Cliquer sur OK. 7. La boîte de dialogue Fin de l'assistant Ajout de nouveau matériel détecté s'affiche. Cliquer sur Terminer 8. Lorsque Windows demande de redémarrer l'ordinateur, retirer le CD-ROM du lecteur et cliquer sur Oui. 23 Installation rapide sous Windows XP Série EtherFast Windows XP comprend un pilote intégré pour l'adapteur réseau LNE100TX. Une fois que la carte réseau 10/100 Mbps Etherfast est installée dans l'ordinateur, Windows XP installe automatiquement le pilote LNE100TX. 26 Übersicht EtherFast Serie Befolgen Sie nach der Installation der EtherFast 10/100 LAN-Karte im PC die vorliegenden Anweisungen zur Installation des Kartentreibers. 10/100 LAN-Karte 4. In einem eingeblendeten Fenster erhalten Sie die Meldung, dass Windows 95 den Treiber nicht finden konnte. Klicken Sie auf Andere Position, um den Pfad des Treibers manuell einzugeben. Kurzinstallationsanleitung für Windows Starten Sie den PC, auf dem Windows 95 ausgeführt wird. Hinweis: Klicken Sie während der Installation nicht auf Abbrechen oder Überspringen. Andernfalls wird der Treiber nicht ordnungsgemäß auf dem PC installiert. 2. Windows 95 ermittelt automatisch die EtherFast 10/100 LAN-Karte im PC. Geben Sie den Pfad D:\Drivers\WIN95 in das Textfeld Quelle ein. Klicken Sie anschließend auf OK. 8. Windows 95 beginnt, Dateien auf Ihren PC zu kopieren.
