2 Eligibility / Online Courses Welcome! Taking courses with the 32BJ Training Fund is free, easy and fun! Here s what s new: n New industry courses and quick course seminars are now offered throughout New Jersey. n Fireman: Low Pressure Black Seal Preparation now offered in Hackensack. Rothschild Secretary Eligibility for the 32BJ Training Fund is fully detailed in the Summary Plan Description (SPD) available online at training.32bjfunds. com or by calling Member Services at BJ (3225), Monday Friday, 8am 5pm. Your eligibility depends on the particular collective bargaining agreement or participation agreement covering your employment. Generally, the waiting period for training is 90 days unless otherwise specified in your collective bargaining agreement or participation agreement. If you become ineligible and are out of work for more than 91 days, you may be required to complete the waiting period again. If you are taking a class when you become ineligible you will be allowed to complete your classes for that trimester. If you are participating in a yearlong course and you lose eligibility during the second trimester, you may complete the third trimester of that course. However, once you lose eligibility, you may not enroll in any new courses. CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING Participants who take courses through the 32BJ Training Fund are hardworking people who make a commitment to their personal and professional development. Our Rules and Regulations are distributed at the start of each course. Not only are you expected to read the Rules and Regulations, but also to show your fellow students the respect they deserve by abiding by these rules. ATTENDANCE POLICY Minimum attendance of 80 percent is required. Unfortunately, academic and computer classes that do not have regular attendance of at least eight students may be closed or combined. We will do our best to accommodate all students in another section. Ask your instructor to assign make-up work to improve your attendance rate. COURSE/QUICK COURSE PREREQUISITES Some courses & quick courses require you to complete a prerequisite a preparatory course before you enroll. Some courses require minimum reading and math skills. Mastery of these skills can be established by presenting a high school diploma or its equivalent from an English-speaking country, or by passing a standardized test at registration. These prerequisites are noted above each course description. EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSINGS To inquire about the possible cancellation of classes in the event of a weather emergency or other hazardous conditions, contact your Site Manager. The classes listed below and on the next page are available online through the 32BJ Training Fund First-time users are required to take a short online introductory training to learn everything they need to know about the rules surrounding registration and completion of online courses. After successful completion of this training, they will be able to register for up to two online courses simultaneously. Basic computer and Internet skills are expected for students taking online classes. Review proper soldering and brazing techniques through hands-on practice. Learn about new environmentally friendly refrigerants. Su elegibilidad depende del acuerdo colectivo de trabajo específico o del acuerdo de participación que cubre su empleo. Si pierde su elegibilidad y permanece fuera del trabajo durante más de 91 días, es posible que deba completar el periodo de espera nuevamente. CLASES EN EL LUGAR DE TRABAJO Si usted, una compañía de administración o el dueño de un edificio tiene 10 o más participantes elegibles interesados en asistir a una clase y cuentan con el lugar adecuado, el 32BJ Training Fund puede dictar las clases indicadas con este símbolo en su edificio. Para obtener más detalles, llame al CREACIÓN DE UN ENTORNO PARA EL APRENDIZAJE Los participantes que toman cursos a través del 32BJ Training Fund son personas muy trabajadoras que demuestran un gran compromiso con su desarrollo personal y profesional. Al inicio de cada curso, se distribuyen las normas y reglamentos. Se espera que no sólo lea las normas y reglamentos, sino que también, mediante su cumplimiento, les demuestre a sus compañeros de curso el respeto que éstos merecen. POLÍTICA DE ASISTENCIA Se requiere una asistencia mínima del 80%. Desafortunadamente, es posible que las clases de aptitudes académicas y de computación que no cuenten con una asistencia regular de, al menos, ocho estudiantes se cierren o se combinen. Haremos todo lo posible por acomodar a todos los estudiantes en otra sección. Pídale a su instructor que le asigne tareas de recuperación para mejorar su tasa de asistencia. REQUISITOS PREVIOS PARA EL CURSO/CURSO RÁPIDO Algunos cursos y cursos rápidos requieren que finalice un curso preparatorio como requisito previo antes de inscribirse. Algunos cursos requieren habilidades mínimas de lectura y matemáticas.
