Mass Intentions The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the greatest and most perfect prayer we can offer because it is the prayer of Jesus Christ to the Father. The Mass is the most beautiful gift we can give to others. Masses may be offered not only for the deceased, but also for the sick, in thanksgiving for favors received, birthdays, anniversaries, and for any special intention you may have. 4 Sharing the Gospel Even the evil spirits obey Jesus. When you are tempted to do wrong, say, "Jesus, fill me with the spirit of God." He will make the evil spirits leave you. The Holy Spirit will show you step by step how to live today. And he will lead you to live forever in heaven. The Holy Spirit will give you wisdom and courage to do what is right. The Spirit will show you how to love, honor, and worship God. Grass stains. Tomato sauce. Brightly colored fruit drinks. When these nasty stains stick to your clothes, it is tough to get them out. Regular soap won't work. You need something stronger. Jesus is really strong, too. In today's Gospel, a nasty evil spirit screamed when it saw Jesus. Jesus was so powerful, he cleaned that evil spirit right out. Prayer Jesus, help me to do good things this week. Amen. Something to Draw Draw an evil spirit leaving the man in the Jewish meeting place. Mission for the Week Each morning ask Jesus to help your family and friends do good and not evil.

5 Religious Education Classes Registration: Registration for our parish Religious Education Faith Formation Classes is now taking place in the parish office. Registration fee is $40.00 for the first child and $30.00 for each additional child of the same family. Please bring a copy of the child s Baptismal Certificate and a copy of the Birth Certificate. Prayer For Vocations Lord of the Harvest, we petition you as you have instructed us to ask for more laborers to serve in the vineyard of your Church. You have told us that the harvest is rich and laborers are few and we experience this great need in the face of the challenge of the New Evangelization. We ask the Holy Spirit to inspire young men and women to seriously consider vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Help all of us to be effective instruments to encourage and support those whom you are calling to serve and lead the Church of Brooklyn and Queens in the future. Lord, you told the Apostles to put out into the deep. We ask for the grace and courage to respond to your call as we pray and work for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Great High Priest, Amen. Retirement Joanne Perrone Our parish secretary will be retiring. After twenty-five years of working for Saint John the Evangelist Parish and then the newly formed parish, Saint John the Evangelist-Saint Rocco, as parish secretary, Joanne Perrone, has decided to retire. We would like to thank her for all that she did for us during her time with us. She not only did the work that had to be done, but went beyond to help the members of our parish. We are grateful for the more, the extra, the listening ear, the helpful hand she gave to help many of our parishioners in difficult situations, or who just needed a Mass card, a letter, a word of encouragement. Joanne will be retiring this week. So give her a call at the parish office during this month, on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 10:00am to 1:30pm, to wish her well in retirement or just to say thank you. Thank you Joanne for all you did for us.
