3 3 Prerequisites: Not necessary GENERAL GOALS Critical understanding of the nature of social work as a profession and as a discipline, and its relations with the various social sciences. To provide basic knowledge about the origins, development of social work and current concept, its relation to the evolution of social action in general and in Spain, as well as the theoretical and ethical underpinning discipline and professional action. Knowing the main theoretical constitutive of social work as a discipline. Understand the methodological foundations of social work Know the different models and areas of intervention in which the worker exerts its social performance. Acquire skills in handling the basic documents of social work, as well as documentary sources of information COMPETENCES Competence measuring scale Basics CB3 - Students should have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their field of study) to inform judgments that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical. Generals CG1 - Ability to work and test them together with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities in their needs and circumstances. CG2 - Ability to plan, implement, review and evaluate social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities and other professionals. CG5 - Ability to manage and be accountable, with supervision and support, the actual practice within the organization. Transversals CT3 - Carry out the work with a strong ethical commitment in line with the overall development, the dignity and human rights.

4 4 Course guide Social Work Foundations CT5 - Interact effectively and empathically with people from other cultures striving to know and understand the characteristics (language, values, customs) of the same. Specifics CE1 - Set different forms of intervention with families, groups, organizations and communities in order to identify the most appropriate. CE7 - Use the methods and models of social work intervention with families, groups, organizations and communities to improve their living conditions CE13 - Identify and define risk situations in order to adopt resolution strategies. Work done on the university e-learning platform ( ) Total 3.6 SYSTEM FOR ASSESSING THE ACQUISITION OF THE COMPETENCES AND ASSESSMENT SYSTEM Assessment Tool LEARNING OUTCOMES ASSESSED Allocated Percentage Reading and commentary a monograph Individual and group work R2, R3, R4, R5 R2, R3, R4, R5 30% 30% Final Evaluation R1, R6 40% Note: In order to pass the subject the student must pass both the theoretical and the practical content separately. MENTION OF DISTINCTION: The mention of Distinction will be awarded to students who have achieved a score equal to or greater than 9.0. The number of Distinctions granted will not exceed 5% of students enrolled in a subject in the corresponding academic year unless enrollment is under 20, in which case only one Distinction may be granted. (Royal Decree 1125/2003). DEVELOPMENT OF THE SUBJECT IN SECOND AND SUBSEQUENT ENROLLMENTS: There will be a special group for students who are not enrolling for the first time if they exceed the occupancy limit of the classroom and a teacher is assigned to that group. The professor in charge of this group will conduct 4 follow-up sessions and tutoring for 2 hours each. Assessment of skills and abilities will be done through the scheduled practice sessions In each session the subject will be developed so as to reinforce the work on the skills that each student needs to pass the course.
