1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS SURFACE MOUNT LED COMBO EXIT SIGN (NXPCA) IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS 1. Read and follow all safety instructions. 2. Review the diagrams thoroughly before beginning. If you feel you do not have electrical wiring experience, refer to a do-it-yourself wiring handbook or have your fixture installed by a qualified licensed electrician. 3. All electrical connections must be in accordance with local codes, ordinances, and the National Electric Code. If you are unfamiliar with methods of installing electrical wiring, secure the services of a qualified electrician. 4. Before starting the installation, disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breaker or by removing the appropriate fuse at the fuse box. Turning the power off using the light switch is not sufficient to prevent electrical shock. 5. Do not use outdoors. 6. Do not let power supply cords touch hot surfaces. 7. Do not mount near gas or electric heaters. 8. Use caution when servicing batteries. Battery acid can cause burns to skin and eyes. If acid is spilled on skin or in eyes, flush acid with fresh water and contact a physician immediately. 9. Equipment should be mounted in location and at heights where it will not readily be subject to tampering by unauthorized personnel. 10. The use of accessory equipment not recommended by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition. 11. Do not use this equipment for other than intended use. 12. All servicing should be performed by qualified personnel only. 13. Allow battery to charge for 24 hours before first use. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS UNPACK THE FIXTURE Check the contents of the box. You should receive: 1 Plastic housing 1 Back panel 1 Canopy 2 EXIT panels 1 Mounting plate 1 Hardware package WARRANTY Juno Lighting Group warrants that its products are free from defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Juno Lighting Group s obligation is expressly limited to repair or replacement, without charge, at Juno Lighting Group s factory after prior written return authorization has been granted. This warranty shall not apply to products which have been altered or repaired outside of Juno Lighting Group s factory. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing phrase, excludes any implied warranty of merchantability. Also, there are no warranties which extend beyond the description of the product on the company s literature setting forth terms of sale. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS NOTE: First turn off electricity Ceiling Mounting 1. Remove EXIT panel with screwdriver. (See Fig. 1) 2. Attach crossbar (8) to junction box using junction box screws. 3. Attach sign to canopy by inserting canopy into sign at an angle, then twist to secure. (See Fig. 4) 4. Feed AC supply leads through center hole and make proper connections. See ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS below. You may use holding wire during wiring. (See Fig. 2) 5. Push excess wire into junction box and align holes in canopy with those in the crossbar. Using screws and washers supplied, tighten canopy to crossbar so that canopy is securely fastened and tight against ceiling. 6. Connect battery wire to battery. Refer to Fig. 3 to take out and to insert battery to plastic housing. (If remote capability is required, refer to FOR REMOTE CAPABILITY below.) 7. Snap in Arrows (3) on EXIT panel as required and store unused arrows in a safe place. 8. Snap EXIT panel to housing. Pendant Mounting 1. Using center hole on the top of mounting, you might do pendant mounting however extension pipe (Ø 3/8 Max.) for pendant mounting shall not be supplied. 2. Put extension pipe having threaded end into center hole on the top of housing and then fasten pipe to housing using nut (not provided). Take out LED strips carefully before putting extension pipe into center hole and insert the LED strips back to the slot after fastening pipe. (See Fig. 5) 3. Connect and trim input wires to unit wires at upper left corner of housing. (See Fig. 6) For proper wire connection, see ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS below. 4. Connect battery wire to battery. Refer to Fig. 3 to take out and to insert battery to plastic housing. (If remote capability is required, refer to FOR REMOTE CAPABILITY below.) 5. Snap in Arrows (3) on EXIT panel as required and store unused arrows in a safe place. 6. Snap EXIT panel to housing. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS Make the proper supply lead connections. If using 120VAC, connect the black and white leads to the building utility. If using 277VAC, connect the orange and white leads to the building utility. Cap off unused wires. In all cases, use standard wire nuts in connection to leads. (See Fig. 7) FOR REMOTE CAPABILITY 1. In order to use additional remote heads (6V 10.8W Max.), make the proper lead connections with remote head wires at junction box using extra lead wires in the sign. (See Fig. 8) 2. Connect additional 6V 4.5Ah battery (not supplied) to extra battery connector on the supplied battery. (See Fig. 9) Then place supplied battery at right battery case and additional battery at left battery case. (See Fig. 10) To take out and to insert battery, refer to Fig Battery connecting wires for additional battery are in the supplied hardware package. Lea y cumpla todas las instrucciones sobre la seguridad. 2. Estudie detenidamente los diagramas antes de comenzar. Si piensa que no tiene experiencia en el cableado eléctrico, consulte un manual hágalo usted mismo o solicite que un electricista matriculado califica do instale el accesorio luminoso. 3. Todas las conexiones eléctricas deben realizarse de acuerdo a los códigos y ordenanzas locales y al Código Eléctrico Nacional de EE.UU. Si no está familiarizado con los métodos de instalación del cableado eléctrico, solicite los servicios de un electricista calificado. 4. Antes de comenzar la instalación, desconecte el suministro eléctrico apagando el disyuntor o retirando el fusible apropiado en la caja de fusibles. Desconectar el suministro eléctrico mediante el interruptor de la luz no es suficiente para prevenir una descarga eléctrica. 5. No use este producto en exteriores. 6. No permita que los cables de alimentación toquen superficies calientes. 7. No monte el accesorio cerca de calefactores eléctricos o de gas. 8. Tenga cuidado cuando realice el servicio de las baterías. El ácido de la batería puede causar quemaduras en la piel y los ojos. Si se salpica ácido en la piel o los ojos, lave el ácido con agua corriente y llame a un médico inmediatamente. 9. Este equipo se debe montar en lugares y a alturas donde no pueda estar sometido fácilmente a la manipulación indebida por parte de personal no autorizado. 10. El uso de equipos accesorios no recomendados por el fabricante puede causar una condición de inseguridad. 11. No use este equipo para fines distintos a su uso previsto. 12. Todo servicio debe ser realizado únicamente por personal calificado. 13. Deje cargar la batería 24 horas antes del primer uso. Retire el panel EXIT con el destornillador. (Vea la Fig. 1). 2. Fije el travesaño (8) a la caja de empalmes con los tornillos de la misma. 3. Fije el letrero al rosetón insertando este último en el letrero con un ángulo y girándolo luego para fijarlo. (Vea la Fig. 4). 4. Pase los cables del suministro de CA a través del orificio central y realice las conexiones apropiadas. Consulte CONEXIONES ELÉCTRICAS más abajo. Puede usar un alambre de sostén durante el cableado. (Vea la Fig. 2). 5. Introduzca el exceso de cable en la caja de empalmes y alinee los orificios del rosetón con los del travesaño. Usando los tornillos y arandelas provistos, apriete el rosetón al travesaño de modo que el rosetón quede firmemente sujeto y apretado contra el cielo raso. 6. Conecte el cable de la batería a la misma. Vea la Fig. 3 para retirar e introducir la batería en el alojamiento plástico. (Si se requiere capacidad remota, consulte PARA CAPACIDAD REMOTA más abajo.) 7. Coloque a presión las flechas (3) en el panel EXIT según sea necesario y guarde las flechas sin usar en lugar seguro. 8. Coloque el panel EXIT a presión en el alojamiento. Montaje suspendido 1. Usando el orificio central de la parte superior del montaje, puede realizar un montaje suspendido. No obstante, el tubo de extensión (Ø 9,5 mm (3/8 ) máx.) para este tipo de montaje no se provee. 2. Coloque un tubo de extensión con extremo roscado en el orificio central de la parte superior del alojamiento y luego apriete el tubo al alojamiento mediante una tuerca (no provista). Retire cuidadosamente las tiras de LED antes de colocar el tubo de extensión en el orificio central e insértelas nuevamente en la ranura después de apretar el tubo. (Vea la Fig. 5). 3. Conecte y recorte los cables de entrada a los cables d ela unidad en la esquina superior izquierda del alojamiento (Vea la Fig. 6). Para conectar correctamente los cables, consulte CONEXIONES ELÉCTRICAS más abajo. 4. Conecte el cable de la batería a la misma. Vea la Fig. 3 para retirar e introducir la batería en el alojamiento plástico. (Si se requiere capacidad remota, consulte PARA CAPACIDAD REMOTA más abajo.) 5. Coloque a presión las flechas (3) en el panel EXIT según sea necesario y guarde las flechas sin usar en lugar seguro. 6. Coloque el panel EXIT a presión en el alojamiento. CONEXIONES ELÉCTRICAS Haga las conexiones de cables del suministro eléctrico apropiadas. Si se usa 120 VCA, conecte los cables blanco y negro a la instalación eléctrica del edificio. Si se usa 277 VCA, conecte los cables naranja y blanco a la instalación eléctrica del edificio. Cubra los extremos de los cables sin usar. En todos los casos, use capuchones de empalme estándar en las conexiones de los cables. (Vea la Fig. 7). PARA CAPACIDAD REMOTA 1. A fin de usar los cabezales remotos adicionales (6 V 10.8 W máx.), realice las conexiones apropiadas de los cables de suministro con los del cabezal remoto en la caja de empalme, usando cables extra en el letrero. (Vea la Fig. 8). 2. Conecte la batería de 6 V 4.5 Ah adicional (no provista) al conector para batería adicioal de la batería provista. (Vea la Fig. 9) Coloque a continuación la batería provista en el alojamiento derecho y la adicional en el alojamiento izquierdo.
