Theory will always follow the comments on translation. LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course the student should be able to translate a text and provide it with a syntactical comment. Syntactic theory will be not an object in itself, but an instrument in order to make possible the comprehension of the syntactic problems in reading and translating Greek texts. The classroom sessions will deal with the explanation of theory by means of the materials provided and the analysis ofa sample of texts from the Histories of Thucydides. The learning of this subject will lay on a practic methodology. Classroom sessions will be addressed to the translation and syntactical commentary of a sample of texts from Thucydides Histories, namely I , II 47-54, III i 53-67, IV i V At the beginning of the course the student will be provided with a specifi bibliography on the Thucydidean text, language and style.
