3 Gegants: Joan i Marieta Joan y Marieta son los gigantes de Sant Cugat y están guardados en el museo del Monasterio. Se crearon en 1987 por Joan Tortosa. Marieta mide 4,20 metros y Joan mide 4,32 metros. Nuestro favorito es Marieta. Joan and Marieta are the Gigants of Sant Cugat and they are kept in the Museum of the Monastery. They were created in 1987 by Joan Tortosa. Marieta is 4,20 metres high and Joan is 4,32 metres. Our favorite is Marieta. Cristina, Nuria & Camila

4 La Pedrera The name of the building is La Pedrera ( Casa Milà ). La Pedrera is in Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona. It was built between 1906 and Its creator was Antoni Gaudí, It s a very popular catalan artist. The Casa Milà is important because it s in modernist style and the shapes are waves. Our favourite bit are the balconies and waves. They are made of stone. They are very creative! El nombre de la construcción es La Pedrera ( Casa Milà ). La Pedrera está en el Passeig de Gràcia de Barcelona. Fue construida entre los años 1906 y Su creador fue Antoni Gaudí un artista catalán muy conocido. La Casa Milà es importante porque es modernista y sus formas son olas. Todas son de piedra y esto era creativo en su época. Nuestra parte favorita son los balcones y las olas. PAOLA & LAIA

5 Les Sardanes It is a popular dance in Catalonia. It is a National dance. You can dance it in a circle. The steps are small and big. The Sardanes group of dance in Sant Cugat was born to promote the Sardana as culture and tradition. Es la danza tradicional de Catalunya. Es una danza nacional y se baila en grupo y en círculo. Se baila haciendo pasos cortos y largos. El grupo de sardanistas de Sant Cugat nació para fomentar la sardana como eje cultural y tradicional. Berta & Sara

6 Councils: New and Old Sant Cugat del Vallès is in Catalonia. It has two councils: the new and the old. The new Council is very big, and it is in Rambla del Celler. This Council was built in It s very important for the town. Our favourite part of the new Council is the nice office. In it works Mercè Conesa, the Major. The old Council is in Barcelona square. It was built in It was created by Elies Rogent and Enric Morera. The old Council is a symbol for Sant Cugat. It s very old! Our favourite part is the structure. Biel, Ramón & Andrea.

7 Monasterio de Sant Cugat The name of the building is Sant Cugat Monastery. The important part of the building is the church. Benedictines built the Monastery in 877.Our favourite part is the altar. El nombre de la construcción es Monasterio de Sant Cugat. Lo más importante de la construcción es la iglesia. Los benedictinos lo construyeron en 877. 8 Castellers The name of the human building is Castellers. Sant Cugat Castellers train by the Local Council. They are from 18 th Century. In Valencia they did a human dance and at the end of the dance people made a human construction named Castellers. After years people chose the human construction instead of the dance. El nombre de la construcción humana es Castellers. Ellos entrenan al lado del Ayuntamiento. Fueron creados en En Valencia, hicieron una danza, y al final hacían una construcción humana. Años después, era más importante la construcción humana que el baile y así se creó. Joana & Bernat

The Arxiu Nacional of Catalonia in Sant Cugat del Vallès was built in 28 th November It was created by decreed by Catalan Government to keep the important files and historical documents of Catalonia. We like they made it here in our city. El Archivo Nacional de Cataluña en Sant Cugat del Vallés, fue construido el 28 de Noviembre de Creado por decreto del Gobierno de Cataluña. Aquí se guardan todos los documentos importantes e históricos de Cataluña. Lo que más nos gusta es que esté aquí. Jana & Oriol

10 Parc Central The name of the place is Parc Central. It s in the central of the new part of Sant Cugat del Vallès. It was built between 1996 and Enric Batlle Durany and Juan Roig created it. The place is important because people can walk and play. El nombre del parque es Parc Central. Está en el centro de la nueva parte de Sant Cugat del Vallès. Fue creado del 1996 al Lo crearon Enric Batlle Durany y Juan Roig. Este lugar es importante porque la gente puede pasear. Paula, Judith & Iker

11 Paga-li Joan Dance The name of the dance is Paga-li Joan. It is danced at Hort de l Abad next to the Monastery. It s also named the Vano i el Ram dance. It s very important because it s danced by 40 couple at the Festa Major. We enjoy a lot dancing it. El nombre de la danza es Paga-li Joan. Se baila en el Hort de l Abad al lado del Monasterio. También se llama el baile del Ramo y el Abanico. Es una danza muy importante porque se baila con 40 parejas el día de la Fiesta Mayor. Lo que nos gusta más es que todos se lo pasan muy bien. 12 Palau Maristany (Viena) It s name is Palau Maristany. It is in front of Sant Cugat train station. This building was created in 1927 at the end of January. Rómul Maristany, a pianos maker built it in Noucentista style. Our favourite bit of Palau Maristany are the indoor spaces and the main stairs. El nombre del edificio es Palacete Maristany. Está en la plaza de la estación de Sant Cugat. Es un Palacete construido el A finales de enero de 2006 se convirtió en Viena. Lo creó Rómul Maristany que era un fabricante de pianos. 13 Sant Medir The name of the building is Sant Medir. This is in Collserola. Sant Medir was built in 10th century. It is very old. Our favourite bit is the altar of Sant Medir. 15 Sant Pau and Santa Creu Hospital Sant Pau and Santa Creu Hospital is in Sant Quintí Street in Barcelona created between The building was built by Lluis Domènech i Muntaner. The hospital is important because of the architecture. Consta de un edificio principal dedicado a la administracion y de 27 pabellones en los que se desarrollan las tareas médicas y de enfermería. Todos los edificios están unidos por galerías subterráneas aptas para el traslado de enfermeros. Valeri & Paula M.

16 Vall de Núria The name of this place is Vall de Núria. This place is next to Queralbs, in Catalonia. It was built in 1911 and it was created by the nature. It s important because it has a history related to its virgin, and our favourite bit is the mountain. El nombre de este sitio es Vall de Nuria. Este sitio está en Queralbs al lado de Cataluña. 17 Estadi Olímpic The Olimpic Stadium is in Olimpic Stadium street in Barcelona. It was built in 1936 by Pere Domènech. The stadium is famous because it is multiuse and its inaguration for the Olimpic Games in Our favorite part are the terraces. El Estadio Olímpico está en la Calle del estadio Olímpico de Barcelona. Fue construido en 1936 por Pere Domènech. El estadio es famoso por su multiuso y su remodelación para los juegos Olímpicos de Nuestra parte favotita son las gradas. Raúl & Josmay

18 Park Güell The name of this park is Park Güell in Olot street in Barcelona. The construction started in 1900 by Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol. It s very important because the architect was very famous. People love its shapes, materials, the architecture, colours and the sight of the city of Barcelona. The part we like the most is the Salamander Mosaic. El Parque Güell está en Barcelona. Lo construyeron en 1900 Antoni Gaudí y Josep Maria Jujol. Es muy importante porque lo construyó un arquitecto muy famoso. Va mucha gente a visitarlo por sus formas, los materiales, la arquiectura, los colores y las vistas de la ciudad de Barcelona. 19 THE GENERALITAT PALACE The name of the building is Generalitat Palace. It s at the st. Jaume square, in front of Barcelona s Council. It started in 1410 and it was finished in The arquitects were Marc Safont, Pere Joan, Mateu Capdevila and Pere Blai, but Mateu Capdevila was the most important. It s important because the Generalitat organizes Catalonia. Our favourite bit is the facade at night. Maria i Quim

20 Torre Agbar The Agbar Tower is in Barcelona in Diagonal Avenue next to Las Glorias Circus. It was created in It s important for the materials, the lights, the shapes, the structures and the distribution. Our favourite bit is the light at night. La Torre Agbar está en Barcelona en la Avenida Diagonal al lado de la plaza de Las Glorias. La construyeron en Es importante por los materiales, la luz, la forma, la estructura y la distribución. 21 Ajuntament de Barcelona El nombre de la construcción es el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona. Está en la plaza de St. Jaume, delante del Palau de la Generalitat. Lo empezaron en 1369 y lo acabaron en El arquitecto fue Josep Mas y Vila. Es importante porque los políticos hacen allí sus reuniones. Lo que más nos gusta es la sala de plenos. Maria i Quim

22 CAMP NOU It s in Barcelona in Aristides Maillol Street. It was built from 1954 to 1957 because the Barça team didn t have a proper stadium. The arquitectures were Francesc Mitjans, Josep Soteras and Lorenzo García Barbón. Our favorite bit is people enjoying sports. Está en Barcelona en la calle Arístides Maillol. Se creó del 1954 al Se construyó para que el FC Barcelona tuviera un estadio en condiciones. Los arquitectos fueron Francesc Mitjans, Josep Soteras y Lorenzo García-Barbón. 23 Muntanyes de Montserrat Montserrat Mountains were declarated Natural Park in 1987.There are four important hills: Sant Geroni, Sant Joan, Les Agulles and Cavall Bernat. It is among Bages, l Anoia and Baix Llobregat councils. There is a Benedicine Monastery dedicated to Montserrat Virgin. Las Montañas de Montserrat fueron declaradas Parque Natural en 1987.Las montañas más importantes son Sant Geroni, Sant Joan, Les Agulles y Cavall Bernat. Está entre las comarcas del Bages, l Anoia y el Baix Llobregat. Tiene un monasterio benedictino dedicado a la Virgen de Montserrat. Xènia & Pol

24 El Museo-Teatro Dalí The Museum-Theater Dalí is in Figueres, in Gala-Salvador Circus. Salvador-Dalí created the Museum in It s important because he was a very good painter. We like the decoration in the Mae West room: the face is very nice. El Museo Teatro Dalí está en Figueres, en la plaza Gala-Salvador. Se construyó en 1849 por Dalí. 25 Sagrada Familia The Sagrada Familia is in Mallorca street in Barcelona. The architect was Antoni Gaudi in The monument is famous because its architecture, colours, forms and materials. A lot of people visit it. Our favorite parts are the Mitras. La Sagrada Familia fue construida en la calle Mallorca de Barcelona en Su arquitecto fue Antoni Gaudí. 26 Tibidabo and Collserola The name of de hill is Tibidabo. On top of Tibidabo there is a sacred church. Tibidabo is in Collserola s mountain. Tibidabo was built in 1901 and it s between Sant Cugat and Barcelona. El nombre de la colina es Tibidabo. El Tibidabo tiene el Templo Sagrado Corazón. El Tibidabo está en la Sierra de Collserola.
