Smart Switch Generación II D-Link s Smart II series is the next generation of web smart switches, enabling more advanced management and security features, as well as a more intuitive GUI.
BENEFICIOS Generación II D-Link s Smart II series introduces security features that provide more control over who can access network resources: Security Switch robustness Performance Reliability Bandwidth preservation 802.1X authentication IEEE-802.1X provides a security standard for network access control: network ports will be deemed disconnected until authentication via a RADIUS server is completed. Depending on the result, the port is either made available to the user, or the user is denied access to the network. MAC-address based Access Control Each port can be statically configured with the MAC address of the attached device, preventing unauthorised additions of rogue equipment to the network.
BENEFICIOS Generación II D-Link s Smart II switches are more robust and guarantee maximum uptime: Security Switch robustness Performance Reliability Bandwidth preservation Embedded D-Link Safeguard Engine D-Link s Safeguard Engine is a robust and innovative technology that automatically throttles the impact of packet flooding into the switch's CPU. In the event of a virus outbreak, excessive amounts of irrelevent traffic may be generated, which could paralyse the switch. The Safeguard Engine will identify these frames and filter them out, thereby maintaining the availability of the Web-Smart Switch. Broadcast Storm control A broadcast storm occurs when broadcast messages prompt receiving nodes to respond by broadcasting their own messages on the network, which in turn prompts further responses, and so on. This snowball effect can have a serious negative impact on network performance, and also steal CPU cycles from every workstation and server on the network. The Broadcast Storm Control (BSC) feature provides the ability to control the receive rate of broadcasted packets, thus preventing meltdown.
BENEFICIOS Generación II D-Link s Smart II switches make congestion and delays a thing of the past: Security Switch robustness Performance Reliability Bandwidth preservation 802.1Q VLANs The IEEE 802.1Q specification provides a standard for tagging Ethernet frames with VLAN membership information. The aim is to use network bandwidth more efficiently, by forwarding broadcast and multicast frames only to members of the same VLAN. An added benefit is security, since members of a particular VLAN can only communicate with others in the same VLAN. 802.1p Quality of Service (QoS) Traffic on each port is split into four queues, according to the frame priority level. If a frame is untagged when entering the switch, it is given a default priority, which is a configurable setting on each port.
BENEFICIOS Generación II D-Link s Smart II series makes it possible to create intelligent redundant links: Security Switch robustness Performance Reliability Bandwidth preservation 802.1D Spanning Tree When physical links between switches form a loop to provide redundancy, only a single path will be forwarding frames, avoiding the risk of traffic entering endless loops on the network. In case of a link failure, the protocol automatically redirects traffic across other links to allow continuous operation.
BENEFICIOS Generación II D-Link s Smart II series comes with the IGMP Snooping feature for multicast applications, normally only found in managed switches: Security Switch robustness Performance Reliability Bandwidth preservation IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) Snooping IGMP is the standard for IP multicasting. It is used to establish host memberships, in particular multicast groups on a single network. IGMP Snooping enables the switch to learn Multicast group membership based on IGMP messages passing through it; as a result, the Web-Smart Switch will forward IP multicast traffic only to connections that have group members attached. This results in reducing traffic on the LAN, that would otherwise be flooded to all users, e.g. in the case of bandwidth-intensive video traffic. This is a feature typically found on more costly fully managed switches.
