Abordaje de la hepatitis C en 2016 Los nuevos tratamientos con AADs son capaces de erradicar la infección por VHC en más del 95% de los casos en pautas de 8-24 semanas, con un excelente perfil de seguridad y sin límite de edad. Una parte importante de los pacientes con hepatitis C tienen edad y/o enfermedad hepática avanzadas, presentan comorbilidades y reciben tratamientos concomitantes que deben tenerse en cuenta a la hora de prescribir el tratamiento con AADs. La hepatitis C es frecuente en los pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica grave y estos pacientes constituyen un subgrupo de difícil manejo terapéutico.

Mensajes en pacientes con enf. hepática avanzada El tratamiento con AADs es globalmente eficaz, seguro y bien tolerado en pacientes cirróticos. Los pacientes descompensados tienen peor respuesta virológica, más EAs y más muertes que los pacientes compensados. Resumen - La eliminación del VHC se asocia a una desaparición/mejoría de las manifestaciones extrahepáticas.
